Raw Banana Kismuri / Salad.


"Raw Banana / Harve kele Kismuri / Salad / Koshimbir" .... A simple but delicious side dish / salad sort of a dish that is famous among Konkani Saraswats .... Yummy ....

This is a salad sort of a dish prepared in most Konkani Saraswats home and served as a side dish. By and large Suran (Yam) or Karate' (Bitter Gourd) is used in preparing this dish. But you can use many more in these lines like raw banana, Ivy Gourd (Tendle) etc. and I will be posting them as and when I prepare. 


** Here is to the simple preparation of this dish ....
** Peel off the skin using sharp knife of about 2 Raw Bananas. Cut raw bananas into small cubes, apply salt and keep aside for 10-15 minutes. Then fry them in oil to crisp. Drain and keep ready.

** Note : I have applied 2 tblsp of oil to the bananas and Micro Waved them till crisp mixing at the interval of 1 minute. I always use microwave method as it is much more healthier. You can use any method of your choice. 


** To prepare the Kismuri : Chop one big onion, add 2 tblsp of fresh grated coconut, 2 green chillies cut into pieces. A pinch of hing powder and salt to taste. Add 1 tblsp of coconut oil, add in the fried banana pieces and mix all together. Serve immediately.

** Note : Always serve the kismuri immediately as it goes limp after sometime. You can however fry and keep the bananas in an air tight box for 2 days if need be.
