Ooops ....... Dhannu started making whinny sounds and was angry that he is being given Kulitha all the time while he too wanted to have some dietary changes as he was getting old...... So here I present Basanti ka Ghoda "Dhannu" ..... For a change Enjoying .... "Chana Kokum Saaru With lots of garlic panna / seasoning" ...... LOL. looks how he is enjoying the CHANA SAARU / BLACK CHANA SAAR..... looks like Dhannu .... Basanti ka Ghode was really fed up of regular Kulith Saaru .......
For the Saar : Soak whole black chana overnight…. Next day pressure cook it to 4-5 whistles. Cool & strain the chana well. The chana’s should come out really clean, you can give a rinse if you wish but plz. Do so with boiled & cooled water. Do not throw away the water in which the chana was cooked. You can use it to make chana saar/amti etc.
Now to prepare the saar: Bring to a good boil about 2-3 cups of saar obtained from pressure cooking chana with 1-2 kokum & salt to taste for at least 10-15 minutes.
For Tempering: Heat 1-2 tsp oil in a small kadai add in 10-15 small sized chopped garlic cloves when they start changing colour, add in chopped 2-3 red chillies chopped to bits. When they both get a bit brown remove from fire & pour over the boiling saar.
Let the saar boil for a minutes. Then remove from heat cover & keep aside 10-15 minutes before serving so that the flavours seep into the saar.
