Veg. Seekh Kabab

Veg. Seekh Kabab made out of left over Chattambade (Dal Vada) mixture adding sweet potato, onions and spices.

For Chattambado/Dal Vada..... with Tambdi bajji/Red Amaranth leaves.
Soak 2 cups Chana dal + ½ cup Urad dal + ½ cup of rice in water for 2-3 hrs. In another vessel soak 1/4th cup of chana dal separately. Strain & keep separate. Grind Chana dal + rice mixture with some grated coconut + few red chillies + small piece of tamarind + salt without water to a coarse paste. You should be able to make tikkies out of them. Remove in a vessel add finely cut few curry leaves + handful of coconut pieces chopped into bits (not grated) + 2 cups full of finely chopped Tambdi bajji. Mix all well. Keep it in fridge for 30mts. Remove & make ambado (tikkies) & deep fry. You can add onions also if you wish I have not.

For the Seekh Kabab
For about one cup of the above mixture add 1 cup cooked & mashed sweet potato, one big onion chopped fine, one cup of coriander leaves chopped fine, 1tsp each of jeera powder, coriander powder, haldi powder, badisep(fennel) powder, garam masala powder, Red chilli powder, Amchur powder & mix well. If required you can add a bit of besan (chana dal) powder for binding( i have not). Give the required shape using the wooden skeewers as center to resemble seekh kababs. Roll on a mixture of Rice flour + fine rava & shallow fry or grill on tawa.
