Grate one big bottle gourd. Heat 1 tblsp of ghee in a thick bottomed kadai / pan and add in the bottle gourd and about 2-3 glasses of milk, let cook till all the milk is absorbed. Add about 2 cups of sugar depending upon how sweet you want the halwa and stir in till all the sugar melts. Lower the heat and stir till the halwa leaves the sides of the pan / kadai. Add 1/2 tsp of cardamom powder and garnish with cashews of almond strands. Serve hot / cold.
