"Mocktail of Mosambi ~ Pomegranate ~ Dates" .... A chilled drink that not only quenches your thirst but also is healthy with the addition of dates / Khajur ..... Mosambi juice is something I enjoyed drinking from childhood, My Late Father had the knack of selecting the best Sweet~Juicy one’s and as I always tagged along behind him in his marketing ventures, I learned a little bit about purchasing veggies, fish and fruits … I am Indebted to him for teaching me these skills always …. Yummilicious Chilled Drink for sure … Do try it out and Enjoy …. 


** Juice is something I love from childhood, but those days we were not much into the kitchen activities and being a part of large joint family, these things were rare for us. However, my father whom I consider my best mentor and Idol saw to it that we children never lacked anything. He used to buy the best mosambi that not once tasted bitter or less juicier. My cooking skills credit, I give to my Mom, who was a perfect cook. Coming to the juice part, Mom always insisted that mosambi juice was good for health and always catered to my demands be it during childhood or recently when I fell ill. She saw to it that I had the juice of 2 mosambi everyday without fail for my faster recovery. While buying mosambi, one point to remember is never to buy thick-skinned mosambi nor too thin-skinned ones. They should be fairly thick. Never buy dark green one's nor fully yellow one's, they should be light green with yellowish tinge on them. They should not be too hard when you touch them. Well rest is luck. 

** Mocktail is a a non-alcoholic drink consisting of a mixture of fruit juices or other soft drinks. This is a very safe drink but should be consumed within a few hours of preparing. In fact all juices should be consumed fresh for health benefits, but more so Mocktails as sometimes they tend to go sour. 


To prepare the Mocktail of Mosambi ~ Pomegranate ~ Dates : Here is to the recipe ...
** Note : This is re-edited version as on 3rd Oct. 2017. The recipe remains the same only the pictures and other wording are revised. 

** Remove juice of 3-4 large sized mosambi and keep aside. I use electric citrus juicer for removing the mosambi juice. You can always use the manual one's or any other method you prefer. But if using mixer remove the seeds within the mosambi or else the juice will become bitter. 

** Now collect the seeds of one large or 2 small sized pomegranate. They should be sweet and red in colour. Put it in mixer with one glass of water. Do not run the mixie for long or else the seeds too will get ground. Use the pulse method twice or thrice with just a few seconds of pulsing. Sieve the juice and keep this ready.

** Now in a large jar combine the two juices ie mosambi and pomegranate. Add 2 tblsp of Dates/Khajur syrup, 2 tblsp of sugar and mix well. See to it that all the sugar crystals have melted and the mocktail has blended together well. Put this in the fridge for 2 hrs. 

** Note : For Dates / Khajur Syrup ... I have used readily available dates syrup from market here. But if it is not available just soak 4-5 good quality dates after removing the seeds within in half a cup of warm water for 10-15 mins. Then put it in a mixer grinder and grind to a very smooth paste. You may sieve this if you find fiber in them or add it straight away if you prefer. 

** Your "Mocktail of Mosambi ~ Pomegranate ~ Dates is cold and ready to be served". Serve in glass with a little bit of crushed ice if you want it more chillled or as it is. This drink tastes great when the heat is high and you are drained out of energy. Dates are good source of energy and so are the fruits that are added. You may leave out the sugar part and add in a little bit extra dates or consider drinking as it is. Do try this out and serve to your family on holidays for relaxing and be happy.
