Chilled Sesame/White Til Milk .................tanda tanda cool cool......


Sesame / White Til ie polished til milk is a drink that should be relished during winter season. Til produces heat and is considered beneficial during winter season. Til-gul / Til ladoo / Seasome Ladoo are also prepared and relished for the very same reason. This is a simple cool drink that tastes yummy when consumed cold / chilled whichever suits the body temperature during winter.


Wash and drain well about ½ cup of sesame / white til and leave to dry for some time. In a kadai fry it a bit till it swells up. Leave to cool. You can leave out this step if using polished white til. Just fry the polished til in kadai for a few minutes. I used polished white til and I Micro waved it just for 2-3 minutes and left to cool a bit. Now take about a cup of chilled milk and grind the sesame in mixie to a very very fine paste. You can add a bit of water too if necessary.


Remove and strain in a thick sieve (not fine one). Add powdered gud / jaggery about 2 cups. Add cardamom for flavor and a bit of saffron melted in some hot milk. Mix well. Now add about 2 cups of water. Check the consistency and sweetness. Add more water if required. This is a very nutritious and soothing drink and is usually had during summer months. Overtime this has almost been forgotten. I got the recipe to this in some very old book of mine while Diwali cleaning. This tastes best when served chilled.
