Peanuts / Groundnuts (Micro-Waved) and Ready.

Roasted Peanuts / Groundnuts (Micro-Waved) and Ready ....... Technology used at its best .... Microwaved Groundnuts, skinned and crushed ..... can be used for salads, sabudana khichidi, garnishings, chikki etc.

Roasted groundnuts / peanuts are something that are an absolute must in the kitchen. I always prepare them and keep them ready in hand in case of emergency. Well hubby wants to munch on them often too. Roasted nuts are his favourite, the only Item he goes to kitchen to search for. So they are always available at home. Husking them ie. removing off the skin is a major task so also frying them on kadai without burning them. I used to find this very tedious job till the breakthrough of microwave. So for the past 20 yrs I have no problem on this frontier as roasting the nuts has become a breeze work, what we say in our very own hindi language as bahyen haatH ka kHel ... :) Do follow this easy method of microwaving instead of the long and tired procedure and you will be happy to prepare dishes out of them without any hitch.

Frying peanuts / groundnut  to evenly brown is very easy in Microwave. A little bit of practice is all you need. Try it and you will never regret or go back to the gas method.

Put about 500gms of peanuts / groundnuts (room temperature) in a microwave safe dish and cook on high heat for 5 minutes. Mix well and again cook on high heat of 2 minutes, then 1-2 minutes again depending upon your microwave oven.

Every machine differs. Do not allow to brown as even after the oven is stopped the cooking process continues for some time.

The whole process of frying groundnuts / peanuts will not take more than 9-10 minutes maximum. But you may continue at 30 seconds interval once you cross 10 minutes if you feel it necessary.

But please do be careful and give the microwaved nuts rest period of 4-5 minutes before you really find it necessary to further continue frying as the nuts continue to roast even after the machine is stopped for a minute or two. If you still find it uncooked run it for another 1 minute, follow method till done. Leave to cool.

You can use this for any dish you want or have it as it is. Just remove the skin, pulse it in the mixer if you need it as crumbs as in case of sabudana khichidi. You can also follow the method for preparation of chikki or salads etc. There are numerable dishes where this comes in handy and I assure you its the best method ever regarding roasting of nuts.
