"Breakfast : Sabudana (Tapioca Pearls) Khichidi and Boiled Egg Slices with Ginger Tea (Adraki Chai)" ... prepared simple khichidi today without addition of potatoes or groundnuts as I had boiled eggs to be served too ... Madras Chooda/ Chiwda is store bought ... Yummilicious ….
** Here is a simple breakfast when in hurry yet you want to have some nutrition intact before you get out of the house to keep you going for hours at stretch. I had some leftover prepared sabudana/ tapioca pearls in fridge, so decided to prepare sabudana khichidi for breakfast as I had to be out the next morning and could not afford to spare much time on preparation of bf. Sometimes looks can be deceptive, I had miscalculated the amount of sabudana and to my dismay I only found out too late when I was all ready to prepare the same that the quantity was not enough for us for a tummy filling bf before hitting the road. Added to the agony since I wanted to keep it simple I had not roasted groundnuts nor boiled the potatoes which is usually added to sabudana khichidi and here I was running out of time and could not prepare it on last minute.
** To cut short my problem I brought out 2 eggs from my fridge, always my lifesaver and hard boiled them on another burner while I prepared khichidi on one and tea on another. Well, though I hardly use all the four burners sometimes time demands that I do, happy that they come to use in time of crisis. Here is my awesome bf. that took hardly much time and yet was filling enough to keep hubby and me going for hours. So, the breakfast was of sabudana khichidi, boiled eggs with strong ginger tea and few almonds, the chiwda served along is store bought, which taste awesome with these type of dishes and we Konkani Saraswats always serve sev or chooda with upma, usli etc. try it, taste great sprinkled a bit on them while eating. ** I am sharing the link below to "Sabudana Khichdi / Seasoned Tapioca Pearls" the traditional way in which it is prepared. You can choose the link given below and try out the same. However this time, I kept it simple without the addition of potatoes, coconut, peanuts etc. and seasoning only the prepared and kept sabudana and it tasted wonderful. Though peanuts added on give a great crunch, many are skeptical of adding them on considering them to be filled with calories. Well, when it comes to food, I leave it to individual choice, though personally I add them. But, when one of my friend asked me about how it tasted without addition of anything mentioned above, I too did not have an answer, as I had never prepared it single way anytime before., so decided to try out and give her a feedback. Here it is before you, beautiful and tasty as ever and trust me you can go ahead and prepare them simple with just sabudana seasoned too.
