"Chilled Rose Milk with Sabja".

"Chilled Rose Milk with Sabja" served with Gulla Bajo (Bajia)/ Brinjal fries ... the heat is on here is a healthy drink for party time ... serve it with any hot bajo's of your choice and have fun ... Yummilicious ...

** Chilled Rose Milk is a delicious quick summer cooler that can be prepared with some rose syrup immediately to quench up thirst or to serve to unannounced guests. You can either prepare the rose syrup at home or buy it from stores as it is easily available all round the world. A few decades back I did prepare the rose syrup at home, but somehow it got spoilt and did not last over a week, so over the years I preferred to buy it rather than take the risk. However, I am strongly thinking of giving it a try once again, so I am studying the same in detail through various sources to avoid the mishap happened the first time. Do keep a keen watch this summer, with God’s grace I hope to try it out successfully this time so that the same can be served through the month when the heat is at its highest and that is the time which I love the most to try out different varieties of drinks that are both cooling to body and healthy too.

** I will also be sharing many more coolants during summer, so do not miss logging in to my website and do not forget to try them at home, enjoy the same with family and friends and then give me a feedback. As for this one, though the summer is not on, the heat is slowly creeping in during day time, while the nights are fairly cooler. It has always been a practice in my home of having a mid break drink all through the year. I make it a point to carry the same to my office come what season, the cold one are for the hot season and hot drinks are for the damp weathers. Come what may, both hubby and me must have or healthy drink at around 11 O’Clock or else we feel uneasy, if nothing it is the good old mosambi juice or lime juice that are always the ones I rely on to pep us up. I suggest all of you should form this habit and avoid store bought drinks which are disastrous for health and please avoid giving them to your children.

** Store bought colas and other drinks, even those that claim to be fresh juices in tetra packs are nothing but hogwash. There was a time over 2 decades back when I relished these drinks for lack of time to prepare them at home and dumped my health. I gave it up back then and though occasionally I do take a sip when offered in friend’s home as to not offend them, most of the time I gently decline and ask for water instead. But when it comes to homemade drinks like panna, fruit juices, mixed juices, milk shakes, nachani water or any other pulse water, I am always game and love them all and I once again urge you all to try them out, form a habit and trust me you will never ever regret it, in the long run, just like me. Well to each one their own, as each body is different too, so choose that which is good for you out of your own experience and enjoy the same prepared at home as they are really easy with little prior planning.

** Coming to "Sabja", these are black seeds available everywhere, that get swollen like small jellies when soaked in water and are largely added in preparation of falooda the most famous cold drink with vermicelli added on along with topped on ice cream in India. These are supposed to be having plenty of coolant properties and are taken soaked in water as it is by some to overcome body heat problems. About “Milk”, there is nothing to mention as everybody is aware of its health benefits. Full of protein, calcium and other nutrients, this is God’s given gift to man via Cow that we also worship as being sacred. Never neglect intake of milk, it is one of the best sources of Vitamins which we need for our body repairs and to build immunity. "Rose" is a flower again considered to be a good for health having coolant properties. So you have all the good things needed for the body in this delicious rose milk, so just go ahead and enjoy the same.

** Here is my very simple method of preparing "Chilled Rose Milk with Sabja" … My Style …

** Add 2 tablespoon of Sabja seeds in one cup of water and keep it covered aside for 30-40 minutes by the time of which it will get swollen in size to 3-4 times and look like small whitish black jellies. Keep this ready before preparing the rose milk, if done prior, you can put it in the fridge too after it has been done to get it chilled.

** To 3-4 cups of chilled/ cold milk add in 4-6 tablespoon of rose syrup and mix well. Add in prepared and kept sabja seeds and mix well. Keep it in the freezer for just 20 minutes or in the fridge for an hour to get that cold effect and it is ready.

** "Chilled Rose Milk with Sabja” is chilled and ready to be served. Serve them in individual glasses after giving it a good stir to mix in all the sabja etc. if settled down. Also while adding them on to glasses be sure to check that they all contain the sabja seeds, so pour carefully with a rounded spatula if needed for equal distribution, that way you can ensure the same. Do check out for taste before serving and add in syrup if need or milk if too sweet.

** Enjoy this delicious and healthy coolant with your family and friends on weekends, or for a party or just as a mid break or when chit chatting sessions too. A very good drink to be served at get together/ potluck when you feel thirsty chatting non stop. You can serve it along with some equally delicious snacks like bajias/ bajo, chiwda etc. or even a few masala groundnuts/ peanuts along with it, tastes wonderful and will be loved by all. I served with gulla bajo/ bajias and it was superb combo.

** Children are always reluctant to drink milk and the onus is on us to make them have it for building up of good strong bones that they will thank you for during old age. Bones are the most essential part of our body too, that should be taken well care off, there are plenty of ways and equally delicious recipes that can be tried out and prepared easily in your own home and given to children who will gladly relish them as plain milk is something they avoid but flavored ones are sure to be loved, so go for it.

** Note : You can increase or decrease the amount of addition of rose syrup depending upon each individuals choice of sweetness. Again, it depends on the syrup too as some are too sweet while some are not. So add in 70% of the mentioned amount, mix well, check out the taste and then proceed if need be, this will give you exactly to your taste.

** Note : Addition of Sabja is a matter of choice and you can serve the chilled rose milk as it is too, depends on your family choice. But try it out, who knows you may love it too, not to forget its beneficial health properties.

** Note : Use a good trusted brand of Rose Syrup available in your vicinity, so you can be assured of its purity and benefits. There are plenty of them available and again there are some good reliable people who prepare and sell homemade ones too. You can also use homemade if you have any too.

** Note : Though full fat milk tastes the best, as it is tastier and thicker in texture, you can use any milk like skimmed milk or cow’s milk that you regularly use. Do not add in much of water, as the milk will thin out and not taste very good. In addition, this is the best way to get children drink milk, as they love this coolant very much.

** Note : If you do not get good quality milk in your vicinity or if you find that the milk is too thin or again if you are using skimmed milk which is again too thin then just mix in 1-2 tablespoon of skimmed milk powder to warm milk, mix well, heat thoroughly, cool completely and then proceed as above and your problem is solved
