Bimbla Gojju lossuna ghalnu / Bimbul Bharta with Garlic
Bimbul is a sour fruit type vegetable available in Southern India. Most of the Konkani houses in Mangalore have a tree in their premises. They grow in bunches. I have added a picture of the Bimbul also for anybody who is not aware how it looks like. This can be added to any dish by cutting into pieces for curries or grinding it as for gojju’s etc.
Wash and cut into round rings about 4-5 medium sized bimbuls. Add ½ cup water and boil them till tender and cooked. You can microwave them for 2 minutes in microwave safe dish. Let cool.
Grind to a smooth paste 1 heaped cup of freshly grated coconut with the cooked bimbul, 4-5 Kashmiri Red chilly and 10-12 garlic cloves. Add little water as and when necessary while grinding. You should get a smooth paste. Remove and add water to bring to a thick consistency. Add 1 tblsp of coconut oil to the paste and salt to taste. Mix well.
Serve with hot rice. This Gojju is not heated so you have to serve it immediately with hot rice. You can keep it in the fridge immediately for about a day or two.
