Holi Greetings~ 2021 to All.

“Holi Greetings 2021 to All”

“Sharing a collage of Ubbati/ Puran Poli/ Holige and a few coolants that can be relished during Holi" Growing years “Holi” was just watching “Ranga Barase Bheege Chunarwali Ranga Barase” a beautiful song enchantingly acted by Amitabhji- Rekha the Silsila Jodi, boosted to glamour by DD channel far and wide through the country putting Holi on map. I don’t remember celebrating holi through childhood as it was festive much more celebrated in the northern parts of India. I guess with technology at finger tips, the whole globe is turned into one and today we celebrate all festivals with equal zeal. Puran Poli, a sweet stuffing roti and Thandai, a sweet spiced drink with milk are two most famous dishes relished during Holi, though there are many more traditional offerings prepared during this festive occasion as India is a country where culture and traditions are followed by each one beautifully in their own way …

** I have made a collage of my preparations over years with different types of stuffing’s in ubbati like gajjar, chana dal puran, kayi holige with dry fruits, nendrabale banana- khajoor, Kaayi- cus cus, patti samosa with dry fruit puran stuffing, shengdyanachi poli, traditional mom’s style ubbati and in coolants I have included dry fruit masala drink powder, kaju- ellaichi- til milk and the most famous Thandai, a must for holi. Oh! how can I forget “Kaike Paan Banarasawala”. Yep there is that delicious Betel Leaf- pudina- lime juice to add on the zing for podi-paan lovers, the heart shaped leaf loved by many when served as beeda/veeda. This year enjoy "HOLI" relishing delicious dishes with family and friends and avoid playing with fast colors/ colored water jets as we are still fighting against pandemic and need to be careful ... Let us all join together and spread the colors of joy and happiness all round the world.

** Coming to the "Ubbati/ Puran Poli / Obbattu/ Holige" part there are many varieties in which you can prepare this delicious sweet roti and I myself to date have prepared quite a few some of which I have made into a collage once again this year adding in a few more to the list shared last year. I have tried including some of the best ones, including my own take off on puran poli, a samosa with the sweet filling and that was really wonderful in taste and my friends children loved those small sweet patti samosas very much. I written in detail about these dishes in each of the puran poli links given below, so will not repeat the same again. This post is just a collection for easy access, do try out various options, including new varieties, there by getting and opportunity to relish them with your family and friends. I will definitely be posting many more types of Ubbati as and when I prepare and will update the same here too each year.

** Sharing links below to Ubbati and Coolant prepared by me and shared in the collage above. Do browse through the links for details, recipe, notes, step by step pictures and try them in your home … You may try out any from the collection as they all are equally tasty … Also including a step by step collage here which is almost the common method for preparing of puran poli/ ubbati/ Holige for all recipes ... Happy Holi …
