Banana~Strawberry Lassi.

"Banana~Strawberry Lassi” served with Mashinga Sange Bajo/ Drumstick Bajia/ Fries ... Lassi is always tummy filling more so if banana is added on to the same and is a full meal in itself and if accompanied with some fried snacks it is that much more appeasing ... so enjoy it whenever hunger beats you ... Yummilicious ….

** Lassi is a coolant I prepare all round the year specially so during summer. However there are certain fruits that I love very much and are seasonal which means the same has to be consumed during that period itself. Strawberries are winter fruits that have a tangy tasty and go well when sweetened and prepared in lassi form. Strawberries are good for health but if the tartness level of the fruit is high then it is difficult to eat them in plenty. Lassi again can be had chilled or at room temperature too and it tastes equally good. I prepare lassi with strawberries as hubby and me both love curds and it is always a daily part of our life to consume the same. Sometimes I add on bananas as this is one fruit that is versatile and underestimated on its health benefits. Many avoid them for the fear of calories, but one should remember that they are loaded with potassium which is a necessary for us and bananas also have other nutrients that give on full benefits if consumed on daily basis.

** This one is definitely my favorite lassi as it is tummy filling and keeps me going for hours when I need to be on outdoor work. Again, I would like to specify here that I have included sugar for sweet taste, though in much lesser quantity. Many now prefer to use artificial sweeteners in their food like juices or halwas etc. and you must have seen the advertisement promos in TV commercials. As for my thoughts, I am totally against the use of it and never will add the same to any of my dishes as they are nothing but chemicals that are actually worst than sugar in the long run. I do not add sugar to my Tea and the quantity added to my coolants are also bare minimum to just give a mild sweetness. Off course you can add on jaggery if need be or honey too and it does give a different taste. Well, to each one their own choice, so go ahead and try them the way you prefer to have it. But do include strawberries and bananas into your diet with just a dash of sugar and stay healthy.

** Here is my simple recipe for "Banana~Strawberry Lassi” … My Style …

** Wash and snip off the stem edge portion of a dozen or so ripe dark red colored strawberries. Chop them roughly into pieces and put them into a juicer/ mixer grinder. Now peel off 2 bananas (I used Cavendish medium sized ones) roughly chop them and add it to the strawberries in the juicer. Add in 2 cups of thick skimmed milk curds (You can check out the method of preparation of curds at home via the link shared at the bottom of this recipe). Now add 2-3 tblsp of sugar depending upon how much sweet you want the lassie to be and using pulse mode bring all to a good mix till done.

** Do not add water at this stage, but see to it that all the ingredients have blended well and the sugar too has been mixed well. Now if it is the summer season you can add 5-6 ice cubes or one cup of chilled water and if it is winter just add in one cup of room temperature water into the juicer and once again blend all the ingredients well using pulse mode. Check the consistency of the lassie and add more water only if needed. Remember lassie is supposed to be thick in texture and does not taste good if thinned out. So be careful with addition of water, you can always add it on later if need be.

** "Banana~Strawberry Lassi” is done and ready to be served. Pour thick lassie into individual serving glasses along with a few finely chopped strawberries if desired and serve them immediately. This is a great tummy filling lassie to be had as mid morning break or if you need to go out for a few hours in sunlight for outdoor work as it keeps you going for many hours at a stretch. Enjoy this delicious lassie when strawberries are in season with your family and friends. Always make it a point to make habit of these lovely drinks with your children instead of the store bought colas for health benefits. As they fuss about eating fruits, this is an excellent way to make them have the same.

** Do remember to always serve lassie with inclusion of bananas immediately as if you try to store the same in fridge for later use, they somehow differ in taste and in color too. Fresh ones taste so good that you will never like the stored ones if you taste the same. If in hurry you can make all preparation and keep them ready and do only the blending part at the last minute to ensure you get a good health lassie to be served. I always do so, again some of my friends like this with a dash of cardamom powder added on but frankly I do not when strawberries are added as they have a taste and flavor of their own. You may do so if desired.
