** I really am lost on words to write more on Thali dishes, guess I have exhausted all what I would love to write. Sigh, guess it does happen at times, when a person turns totally blank and just does not know what more to pen. Well, this time I bring one of my favorite dishes in thali and is very easy to assemble and serve if well planned ahead in time. Kali Tori koddel is also called gashi by some in southern parts, but somehow I always relate better to name koddel to dishes when they are seasoned with garlic. This is one of every amchi favorite dish I guess and is often prepared in almost every home with various combinations. Certain pulses are a sort of two in one dish coz. of which the time is cut down on preparation method. The pulses/beans are prepared into curry with addition of a veggie while the water in which it is cooked is drained and prepared into saar either as it is seasoning it with hing or garlic or with tomatoes, rasam powder etc. We amchies always make the best out of almost every ingredients be it veggies or pulses and hardly discard anything.
** There are so many items in mix and match variations that I have decided to post all of them as and when I prepare. Surprised ??? Well, what I mean is take the eg. Of this curry; the same can be prepared with either Raw Jackfruit, Chinese Potato, Bamboo Shoots, Suran etc. depending upon he season. Again you can add leafy veggie to the tori and prepare ambat etc. for addition of tangy taste to the curry to besides tamarind there are options of hogplum, bimbli, star fruit etc. I love adding these veggies depending upon their availability and season. The saar again is very easy, just prepared by staining the cooked peas and its very tasty, the same can be prepared into rasam too with addition of sambar powder and even tomatoes, kokum etc. can be added on for uplifting the taste. Well, in all definitely a delicious meal and as is my usual pattern I am sharing the recipe link to each of the dishes in the picture above, do go through the link for the same, prepare them and relish them with your family and friend, and please do not forget to give a feedback.
** Given below are the links to the recipes of individual dishes in the picture above, please go through the link for that particular dish .....
** Note : The carrot slices are just thin slices of fresh carrots, peeled washed and sliced. I have served them as it is and not added on any seasoning at all, you can sprinkle some salt and chilly powder or pepper powder if desired.
** Note : I have also topped the rice with a small teaspoon of loni/ butter as it goes very well with this saar. You can use homemade or store bought butter or you can leave it out too, if you prefer not to consume butter, but I suggest you do give it a try once, it really tastes great with this saar.
