Ahhhaaa the Mystery of those "Shoulders".

Ahhhaaa the Mystery of those "Shoulders" ... I always wondered why everybody either said make your "shoulders" strong or that their "shoulders" are aching??? It is only when you lend your shoulders to someone in need that the weight of the same is realized … There was as famous song by BEE-GEES in seventies (1978) which had a verse saying … Lay your troubles on my shoulders … Put your worries in my pocket ... Rest your love on me awhile …

** So much has been said on for so long and then My friend posted a wonderful post on which part of the body is the most important of all ....The story goes about like this …. A Mother asks her daughter over the years the same question as to which part of the body is the most important of all. To which the girl gives many a answers, like eyes, head etc. To which her mother’s reply was always a “NO”.

** The girl was always in dilemma and in quest of the answer. One fine day a calamity strikes and the girl lends her shoulder to her mother who was grieving in sorrow. The Mother looks at the girl with a question in her eyes as she leans on her shoulders full of sorrow and the girl suddenly understands what the answer is, what her Mother was trying to tell her all the time over the years.

** Everybody needs a shoulder of loved ones to lean on at some time or the other in life. Sometimes in happiness but most of the time when filled in sorrow, to lean on and cry or unburden them. We all will always need strong shoulders through our lifetime, at every stage of our journey. Our head gets held high firmly placed on our shoulders through the life in full faith and dignity.

** A mother lovingly puts her child on shoulder and keep singing til the child goes to sleep. Also, the child immaterial of its surroundings always sleeps in peace when the mother puts him/ her on her bosom and head on shoulders. Newly born children till they are 6 months old are always put on shoulders and patted once they are fed, which is believed to aid their digestion.

** A shoulder holds the head of a friend or loved one and gives them support during crises or in happiness. A farmer needs a strong shoulder to plough his fields to earn his living and decades back women/ men placed pots filled with water to carry home or their wares like veggies, fruits etc. on their head to carry it for sale the weight of which was borne by strong shoulders.

** Decades back children rode on their fathers shoulders while walking round to places. During festivals, too young children jumped on their father’s shoulders to reach out and peep over to check on going shows, which they could not view if stood on the ground. When hands to the task of carrying on daily work, it’s the shoulders that need to be strong as the weight is actually shared there.

** At the end of one’s journey of life, shoulders play another strong role too as per Indian tradition. They are needed to do the saddest task of carrying one on the journey to eternal rest which is considered as one of the most dutiful and holy work. People usually forget what you what you gave them, but they will never forget those shoulders that gave them solace in their time of need.

** So, always make your shoulders strong enough for your loved ones to lean on; whether they do it for you or not. Give them that strong shoulder to rest on if need be, it need not be only when in sorrow it can also be when someone is very happy too and want to just enjoy that moment like the saying in the song ... Lay your troubles on my shoulders, put your worries in my pockets, Rest your love on me awhile …

** May God give each one of us that immense strength on our shoulders making them strong for ourselves, our family, our near and dear ones and also for those who seek to rest on it for awhile. If every human being does this little bit of service to mankind, life is going to be that much more happier. May our shoulders always be those that can be relied upon ... be it in time of crisis or happiness.
