“Masala Lemon Green Tea” … till a decade back I always wonder why green tea was not green in color … well these are pre-oxidized, less processed type of tea leaves that contain more antioxidants making it beneficial for health and is now the most preferred detox beverage worldwide … Lemon contains Vitamin C, is a health and immunity booster and should be included in our daily diet … in all a healthy brew when sipped on hot and as for the taste you gradually need to adapt to it … Yummilicious …
** Almost everybody knows the health benefits of green tea, so there is nothing much to write on this subject, just google and you will find it all, if you are unaware or new to it. Green Tea is great immunity booster and should be included into our daily diet. Though some recommend 2-3 cups a day, I have only one cup in the evenings, sometimes as it is, at times with a pinch of masala and a dash of lemon and honey (Optional). Though I have been having this off and on for a decade now it is only in the last 4 months, that is from the beginning of this year that I thought of including it on daily basis, to get refreshed after I had finished my evening walk. Green Tea is available both as loose leaves and as a dip, you can use either, I use the loose tea leaves as it given me the freedom to add only that much how much is necessary unlike in dip packets.
** Considering the present situation where Vitamin C is recommended to be included in form of lemon or amla into diet, I add a dash of lemon juice to the tea. Also I have included a large pinch of mixture of “Haldi- Methi- Dry Ginger Powder” which I prepare and keep at home to add to milk at night or just to be included in hot water and sipped on as it is early morning, this was advised by one of the topmost Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev for body aches, you can watch his videos if interested for right proportions. To all those who want to start, just a tip, do not give up if you do not like the taste, I still do not like it very much, despite having it daily for over 5 months now, but it is not bad either. Sometimes that which is good for health is like a bitter pill and has to be taken for its benefit and not taste, so go ahead and try it out today. Stay Safe, Stay Blessed.
** Here is how I prepared this “Masala Lemon Green Tea” today …. My Style ….
** In a small vessel add 2 tsp of Green Tea leaves (I use loose tea leaves, you can use dips too). To this add a large pinch of Haldi- Methi- Dry Ginger Powder mixture and then add 3 glasses of boiling water, cover and keep it aside for 3-5 minutes.
** After 5 minutes, strain in through a fine sieve. Add in a dash of lemon juice and ½ tsp of honey (Optional), mix well and serve immediately. You will get about 2 full glasses of flavored masala green tea ready which is very good for health, Sip it on hot.
** Note : If you do not have the mixture of Haldi, Methi, Dry Ginger powder, you can add the same a small pinch of each or whichever you have. There is not hard and fast rules that you need to add it, you can also add in fresh crushed ginger piece too.
** Note : Green Tea should not be brewed much and neither should it be cooked on flame. You should add hot boiling water to the leaves, cover and allow it to get brewed maximum 5 minutes. You will see the leaves turn green and soft in texture after 5 minutes.
** Note : Taste wise green tea is slightly more bitter in taste than ordinary tea. Don’t give up, as slowly you will develop a taste for it. You can decrease the amount of addition of tea leaves initially and then gradually increase too so that you get accustomed to it.
