Khotte Usli and Mangalore Buns with Ginger Tea.


"Urad-Rice Khotte Usli (Crumbled Seasoned Idly), Mangalore Buns (Banana Poori), Ginger Tea (Adraki Chai)" ... I hardly prepare buns though I love them, so to pair with Usli which was falling short I prepared some buns and had a heavenly Amchi tummy filling breakfast ... Yummilicious ... 

** Usli prepared from Khotto ie Idly prepared in Jackfruit leaves baskets is a very common dish from Konkani Saraswat Cuisine. These are seasoned/tempered crumpled idly mixture that are usually prepared with leftover idlies. In my home however we love it so much that I prepare the Idlies in excess so that I can prepare them the next day for breakfast. Yummy, so delicious with addition of freshly grated coconut and spiced with green chillies etc. I was all relaxed and enjoying my evening as I was happy I did not have to think anything for next morning when hubby’s friends dropped by at around 7 late in the evening. Well I served them idly with gun powder and now I had a only a few remaining which would not be enough to pull through. Had been wanting to eat Buns for a long time now seeing my friends post them often. I hardly prepare them as it is deep fried, so I somehow try avoiding it early in the morning as it turns out hectic for me. But since there was bananas and curds prepared the dough and kept it ready for next day, so that I could prepare a few for the morning while the rest could be prepared the next day for breakfast. So enjoyed the breakfast with to of my favorite items usli and buns along with my lifeline strong ginger tea. Ahhaaa, the pleasure of having a delicious breakfast is really great way to start the day.
