Brun Pav With Hari Bhari Mooli Lasooni Chutney.

Brun Pav With Hari Bhari Mooli Lasooni Chutney ..... we actually call them Kadak Pav in Mumbai .... they tasted awesome with Masala Tea for Breakfast ......

The famous Brun Pav / Kadak Pav Bread is a crusty, round-shaped bread with a very soft, spongy centre. It is very famous in Maharashtra especially Mumbai and is one the staple meal or snack enjoyed by young / old. It is also known as Kadak Pav for its crusty top. The Brun Pav / Kadak pav is enjoyed most with fresh butter or jam. Children enjoy it both with jam or butter and sugar. The Brun / Kadak pav is slit open, at the center, sliced into half and spread with butter and jam or butter withsugar sprinkled over it and then served. The process of making Brun / Kadak pav is “steam baking” which gives brun / Kadak pav the golden colour and crust.

There are many bakeries, almost in every other street in Mumbai which caters to the demand of this special crusty bread. People enjoy it the most for breakfast. It is also eaten in some parts by dipping it in hot Masala Chai. The taste of which is really awesome. You can have these brun pavs with almost any dish like chicken curry too. But they taste best when you apply jam / chutney / Butter-Sugar / cheese etc. I have already posted this brun pav with fresh homemade fig jam before too. Here I have applied Hari bhari lasooni chuntey to the pav and they tasted awesome.I have given the link for the chutney recipe below, please check it up on the blog. As for preparation of the dish in the above picture, it is very very simple.

I have used bakery bought Brun / Kadak pav here. Just slit and cut open the Brun / Kadak pav horizontally through the center into two halves. Apply the chutney on the inner side of both the halves of the bread. Put it back into shape ie. Close the pav back again. Press down a bit so that they get stuck to each other. Now hold the brun pav vetically, then with a serrated knife cut them into strips, ie slice them into 1 inch thickness all way down carefully. This way you get to eat the pav bite sized. You will get about 4-5 pieces. Serve immediately with Tea for breakfast.
