Amla Ginger Gulkand Panak/Spiced Juice.

Chilled Amla (Gooseberry / Avalo ) Ginger ~ Gulkand Panak/ Spiced Juice With lots of pepper ... A delicious coolant to beat the heat ....

Winter has just set in ........ Its hot during day time and pleasantly chill at nights ........ so I guess this one is a good juice to boost energy and meet the nutritional needs to keep health in check for winter blues .....

Ingredients :
Amlas – 6 whole green one’s
Ginger – 2 inch piece
Sugar- 1 heaped cup
Pepper – 2 tsp coarsely powder or 1tblsp whole black pepper
Gulkand – 2 tblsp

Wash and wipe 6 Amlas / gooseberry. Slice off the sides and put it in a microwave with ¼ cup of water and cook on high, covering it loosely for 2-3 minutes. Remove and let cool. Discard the seeds. If not using microwave. Bring one cup of water to boil, when the water boils add in the amlas and let boil for 4-5 minutes. Remove and let cool completely. Rest method as given above.

Put the amla pieces in a mixer grinder / blender along with the water in it which was cooked. Add in 1 full cup of sugar, 2 tsp of coarsely crushed pepper or 1 tblsp of whole black pepper, 2 inch piece of ginger chopped to pieces, 1 cup of water and grind to a smooth paste. Add in 2 tblsp of gulkand (available in the market) and grind again add some water if necessary.

Check the juice by tasting it and add more sugar if needed. Also you can increase the pepper powder, if you want it more spicy. Remove the ground paste add another cup of water, mix well and strain through a fine sieve. Keep the juice in refrigerator to cool completely.

This juice should be served chill or topping with some ice. It tastes best when chilled. Serve in tall glasses adding some ice cubes with any snack of your choice.
