"Combo Meals : Pova Chutney (Spiced Masla Beaten Rice), Biscuit Rotti (Poori) with spiced rava filling, Steamed Nendrabale Kele (Banana), Chano- Harve Kele Upkari (Black Bengal Gram- Raw Banana Bhaji)" ... Saturday lunch's are turning out to be great as it is no onion-garlic dishes for us, but the choices are immense and I am making the most of them in combo ... Yummilicious ...
** The dishes posted are usually prepared for breakfast or tiffin in Konkani Saraswat Homes. However there are times when we need to have a single meal a day like on a Saturday or some festive fasting days. If for breakfast I prepare only a single item from the above combo as it then become too heavy to start the day with but if I prepare the same for lunch than I prepare it in combo so that it becomes more filling as that is the only meal of the day we have. Also if it is an interesting combo with favorite dishes then when had even in limits both the mind and tummy gets satisfied and you don’t then feel hungry or realize you are fasting and refraining food. Well, they do say that one should eat simply food on fasting days and the mind should not concentrate on food, rather the thoughts of food should be a distant one, but I have not yet reached that level of concentration of mind and I must admit I feel hungry, maybe someday it will happen. As for now these are my preparations for a Saturday meal.
