My Veg. Thali- 292.


“My Veg. Thali- 292 : Ambe Peshi (Mango Slices), White (Kidney/ Butter) Beans Bhendi (Curry), Taikile Panna Muddo (Tora Leaves steamed Idly), Dalitoy (Spiced Dal), SheetHa (Rice)” … dalitoy ani sheetHa vottu hunu muddo asleri ani kasalai nakka but I had already soaked the beans not knowing I would get the leaves, so here is my scrumptious meal for the day … Yummilicious …

** Here is my konkani Saraswat dishes Thali which includes monsoon delicacy taikile muddo (tora leaves steamed Idly), the leaves which are available now. A very tasty steamed dish that is often served with dal-chawal along with other dishes. Bhendi is also one of the favorite dishes in my community often served at functions as it is a spicy curry seasoned with hing/ asafoetida allowed during all festive occasions. There is nothing tastier for a dessert than a slice of mango, be it of any variety as alphonso are almost out of season now.

** For “White (Kidney/ Butter) Beans Bhendi (Curry)” Recipe, Please follow the link given below, however the recipe includes the addition of bimbul/ tree sorrel fruit, which you may or may not add depending upon availability, I have not added this time, as it is not available in Mumbai. But then, you can add any sour fruit too, like hogplum, starfruit, bimbul, ambuli etc. and even veggies as accompaniment like keerlu (bamboo shoots), surnu (yam), kadgi (raw jackfruit), kooka (chinese potato) etc. or you can prepare it just with the beans only and for tartness you can just add tamarind/ chinchama while grinding the masala …
