Poori with Vatane Golo / Green Peas Bhaji
The credit for this recipe goes to my sister Dr.Vijaya Bhat. However i have made some of my own changes but the basic masala remains the same. I have used microwave technology here for faster cooking proceedure.
Cook 2 cups of shelled fresh green peas in some water or microwave it for 3-4 minutes and keep aside.

To be ground : Grind to a fine paste ½ cup freshly grated coconut with 2 cups fresh coriander leaves, 1 tsp jeera powder, a pinch of tamarind and 2-3 green chillies. When fine and done add in 2 tsp of coarsely ground pepper powder. Pulse the masala for a few secconds and remove.
1st Method : In a thick bottomed kadai add 1 tblsp oil, when hot add in 1 tsp rai (sasam), when they splutter add ½ tsp of hing powder and 10-12 curry leaves fry for a minute and add in the cooked green peas. Mix well then add the masala, salt to tase and fry for a few minutes on low heat, till well mixed and fried well. Cover and let cook for 5 minutes.
The Vatane Golo / Green Peas Golo is done. Serve hot with poori / chapati or as an accompaniment to any dish of your choice.
2nd Method : Mix in the masala, salt to taste and the cooked green peas in a microwave bowl.
For tempering : In a small pan add 1tblsp oil, when hot add in 1 tsp rai (sasam), when they splutter add ½ tsp of hing powder and 10-12 curry leaves fry for a minute. Pour this over the green peas mixture and mix well.
Microwave the dish covering it with a paper plate for 2 minutes and the Vatane Golo / Green Peas Golo is done.
Remove and serve hot with poori / chapati or as an accompaniment to any dish of your choice.
