Mashinga Palle Sanna Khotto/ Drumstick Leaves Spicy Idly Steamed in Jackfruit Leaves Baskets.

“Mashinga Palle Sanna Khotto/ Drumstick Leaves (Moringa/ nugge soppu) Spicy Idly Steamed in Jackfruit Leaves Baskets” … just serve steaming hot topped with Narlel Tela (Coconut Oil) along with Dalitoy and Rice … bas aur kuch nahin chahiye (you really don’t need anything else) … Yummilicious …

** Here is our own Spicy and Delicious Konkani Saraswat/Amchi GSB's dish Sanna Khotto prepared with a small twist with addition of Mashinga Pallo (in Konkani); also known as Moringa Leaves (Drumstick Leaves) which is loaded with health benefits. I have shared the same before prepared in Vati/ small tumblers, however this time I prepared them in jackfruit leaves pinned up baskets that are famous and go by the name khotto in Konkani.

** Those who browse through my blog are sure to have come across these plenty of times in the last few years as it is recently that I came across access to the tree in one of the office premises I give weekly visit too. There was a break in between for 2 reason, while one being covid-19 pandemic lock down, the other was the trimming away of the extended branch of the tree during monsoon which is I guess done in a gap of few years for maintenance.

** Well, as luck would have it my way, they have grown back and I am able to reach out to them, so till otherwise, I am happy to have them. There are many options in case you are not able to find the leaves, you can use small tumbler, banana leaves, idly molds etc. in fact you can even use badam tree leaves too. So no excuses not to try out these delicious spicy Idlies and enjoy served with dalitoy (spiced tuvar dal) and steamed rice.

** That’s it, you really do not need anything else to be served along with it. Except yes, remember to serve it hot topped with half a tsp of coconut oil, tastes yumz. I will not repeat the recipe again here, but share the one I have already blogged before as the recipe remains the same without any changes, it is only the method of preparation to which too I will share a link if need be to learn the same or you can watch any You Tube too.

** The recipe remains exactly the same as provided in the link given below without any changes whatsoever, So, please click on the same ….

** Given below is the method of preparing "Khotto" molds using jackfruit leaves and coconut tree leaves sticks. If these are available to you, then do try out the same, you may initially find it difficult, but always remember it is practice that makes one perfect, with time you will be an expert in the field, so just go for it.

** “Mashinga Palle Sanna Khotto/ Drumstick Leaves (Moringa/ nugge soppu) Spicy Idly Steamed in Jackfruit Leaves Baskets)” is done and ready to be served. Serve them hot during lunch/ dinner time with Dalitoy (Spiced tuvar Dal) and rice / chawal along with a few bhaji or salad dishes if desired. You can top it with a tblsp of coconut oil which is the traditional way of serving them. You can prepare them prior and either micro wave them for 30 seconds to serve them hot or steam them in Idly steamer for 10 mins. just before serving too.

**These are spicy Idly which we usually call sanna khotto/muddo and are always served with dalitoy and rice. The excess Idly can be store in air tight stainless steel box in fridge and serve them next day by heating it up. You can also crumble them into fine textured crumble and season/temper them with mustard seeds, curry leaves and some fresh coconut and mix well and cook on low heat for 5 minutes and serve the same too.

** I am sharing a common link for "Sanna khotto/Idly/Muddo" below and you can go through the same and learn more on this dish and prepare any one that appeals to you ...

** I am sharing a common link to all the recipes I have prepared using "Drumstick leaves/ Mashinga Sanga Pallo/Moringa Leaves" below, do go through the same and try them if these leaves are available in your vicinity as they are very good for health.
