** Once again I bring in a traditional Satvik Konkani Saraswat dishes Thali that is actually very simple yet a tasty lunch. Today being Nag Panchami / Nagar Panchami, a day when we perform some rituals and pooja to Nag / Serpent God along with Lord Shiva. I will not run into the details of the festival as I am sure all are aware of the festival, I will also be writing a short article soon. Somehow, I am always short of time to catch up on my writings, many of which are still in draft and need re-writing. We Konkani Sarawat’s prepare many items today, like coconut milk kheeri with turmeric leaves, patrado, patholi etc. I have posted all those items before here and you will find them if you use the search option. Today, for a change I changed the menu and prepared the following dishes as some of the items for the preparation of the same where not available to me due to heavy rains.
** Again without running into much details about each dish, will be sharing the links to each one of them below, as I said this is just a thali pattern if you wish to follow, though I would always suggest that you follow your own heart in preparing mix and match dishes. However, since I keep being questioned or lets say asked for suggestion, I have decided to post all my thali, whenever I find it recommendable, so do keep in touch with my blog and do let me know about your choices too, it helps me in my posts. Thank you for always being encouraging in all my ventures, if it was not for the constant encouragement I get, I would not have been able to continue for so long. Do go through the links for the recipes or you can use the search option for similar types of recipes too.
** Given Below are the links to each Individual posts of the recipes to the dishes in the Thali above ……
1.. "Cheppi Kheeri Haldi Paan ghalnu / Rice Kheer Cooked in Coconut Milk with Turmeric Leaves" ... to mark the celebration of Nag Panchami ... Cheppi Kheeri is actually a bland kheer ie kheeri which is a traditional GSB / Saraswat Konkani dish prepared during many festivals around rainy season when turmeric leaves are available in plenty. Though the dish is not sweet the blend of Coconut Milk with thearoma of turmeric leaves gives it a unique taste. Legend has it saying that Goddess Parvathi prepared this dish with lots of love to her husband Lord Shiva who relished this with great desire. So may be the other main ingredient in this dish is “cooking it with love” that gives it that awesome taste ... Today being Nag Panchami is a day associated with lord shiva too as Nag is adorned by Shiva round his neck, A humble offering as Naivedyam during Nag Panchami and greetings to all my friends here on the auspicious occasion ... God Bless all on this auspicious occasion ...
