My Thali.

Today's Satvik Thali (Lunch) ... "Spicy Ajwain~Jeera Chapati (Roti), Red Bean~Carrot Dry Curry (Tambdi Bee~Gajar Kismuri), Curds (Dahi), Lemon Pickle (Limbiya Nonche), Seasoned Sun-Dried Wheat Shevai (Gonva Sevai Panna)" ..... An awesome combo of dishes .... Yumz ......

** Though this post again is on Thali, this one is Satvik Thali, that which can be prepared when one wants to go about doing upavas / fasting for spiritual reasons. Many Konkani Saraswat’s abstain from eating rice or items prepared using rice during Ekadashi Tithi, ie the 11th day of the lunar day of the month that comes in twice ie during Shukla paksha and Krishna Paksha. There are about 4-5 more among all Ekadashi's like, Ashadi, kartiki, Mukoti, Vaikunta Ekadashi etc. which are more important and many observe only those days, while some observe all the Ekadashi that falls throughout the year.

** I am not into much making of any Upvas / Fasting as it affects my health, but I do like to follow some traditions in life for both spiritual and discipline reasons. I love reading lots of spiritual stories and always like to know more about them. As far as the food goes, I refrain from eating Non-Vegetarian and Rice dishes on these auspicious days and prepare Sativik dishes throughout the day. If you are religious minded or would like to know more about Ekadashi you can go through the articles written by me in this Blog. Just use the search option of go to the label “Article on Spirituals” and you will get some interesting reads.

** Once again like always I will not repeat the recipes here nor will I run into any details of individual dishes as they are all shared in postings before. This is just a combination pattern for you to follow if at all you are confused as to what dishes can be prepared for Satvik observance or if there are elders in your house who would love to follow this, you can share the thoughts with them too. Do try this simple combo of satvik dishes and enjoy with your family and friends and remember to send me a feed back. I have posted all the links to all the dishes in the thali above in following posts. You can also search for thali and you will get it.
