Lychee Doodh Candy (Milk Popsicle) served with Rose Syrup Dip.

“Lychee Doodh Candy (Milk Popsicle) served with Rose Syrup Dip” … ever wondered why should Gola’s dunked in syrups have all the fun; well I just tried out my own extended version with Lychee milk candies dunked in rose syrup dip … Ummmm; tooo good; try this for a change, it’s dangerously so tasty that you will end up sipping on to more than one … Yummilicious ....

** Sometimes Idea’s just crop up on roadside rides and then you just can’t wait to get home and try it out. The scorching summer heat is still messing up with our lives in Mumbai and the teasing of few rain showers has made it worse. The gola vendor is definitely a crowd puller these days and I just happened to pass by and wondered what was it about this extremely sugary drink that made people want them so badly. As for me, I have savored it only once in my lifetime as I usually refrain roadside food.

** There are always thoughts of food making rounds in a foodies mind and one such was why crushed ice made into golas were always used to dunk into sugary flavored syrups and not candies/ Popsicle or ice cream candies. The reason I guessed was, ice cream melts faster than golas which meant a person could not savour it in ease. Well, I came home and prepared my time tested favorite Lychee Doodh Candy as Lychee is in season now and served them with rose syrup as a dip, Bingo!!! it was fantastic.

** If you do not want to prepare candies at home, you can also purchase any available in stores, prepare syrup with any flavored crush as a dip and enjoy those candies dunked in them, trust me its awesome, the only hitch being it melts on faster than the gola which are crushed ice only, but that’s just by a few minutes. I prepared the candies in steel glasses and served them in glass itself along with the rose syrup which meant no mess at all. I am going to try a few more flavours, what about you ???

** I will share the recipe link to “Lychee Doodh Candy (Milk Popsicles)” below as I have already shared it about a year back. This will avoid repeating the same all over here again, inconvenience if any is regretted. Please do browse through the same and try it out, you may serve it as it is or with rose syrup dip ….

** For Rose Syrup Dip : Here I have used easily available “Rose Crush” from stores. Just add chilled water in the ratio of 1:1 (ie. one portion of the crush and 1 portion of chilled water), mix well and refrigerate the syrup in required quantity until needed to be served. This helps while serving with the candies.

** For serving “Lychee Doodh Candy (Milk Popsicle) with Rose Syrup Dip”: Pour the prepared Rose Syrup Dip to about ¼ level only into any glass of your choice that is larger than the size of the candies prepared in. The glasses should be able to hold both the syrup and candies when added, so be careful on that front lest the syrup falls out when candy is placed. Remove from freezer and loosen Lychee Doodh Candies (Milk Popsicles) from glass tumblers, if need be you can dip the glasses in room temperature water to easily loosen them. Place Lychee Doodh Candy gently into the prepared and kept tumbler with syrup taking care to see that you do not spill out the syrup. Serve it immediately before it begins to melts and enjoy sipping on to candies dipped in syrup.

** My Note : I hope you enjoyed my version of “Lychee Doodh Candy (Milk Popsicle) with Rose Syrup Dip”, it’s easy to prepare and much more healthier than the gola’s which are nothing but crushed ice enjoyed dunked in sugary flavored syrups. This is definitely a better way to let your children savor the candies as it includes both fruit and milk which otherwise children fuss about in eating/ drinking. You can try with any flavors and enjoy with your family and friends and please do remember to give me a feedback, it encourages me to do that much more and share here with friends.
