My Festive Thali~Naivedyam 151.

"My Festive Thali~Naivedyam 151 : Bibbo-Pagila Upkari (Cashew Nuts- Spine Gourd Bhaji). Sukrundo (Sweet Chana Dal Filling), SheetHa (Rice), Kothambari Pallo- Ambado Gojju (Coriander Leaves- Hogplum Sweet Tambuli/Chutney)" ... my offering to Lord Ganesha on the auspicious occasion of 7th day Visarja ... Stay Blessed~ Spread Happiness .......

** It’s Ganesha Chaturthi Festival time which is celebrated in great pomp in Mumbai for 10 long days. In my home town the festival is only for one or two days, that too in homes and temples while sarvajanik Idols are kept only in very few halls. But in Mumbai, you see huge Idols placed in every nook and corner of roads. Though it is a pleasant sight, it does put the city in chaos with traffic jams and road blocks to accommodate the same. It is believed that during the British rule, people were not allowed to assemble in gatherings in roads or places for the fear of conspiracy or plotting. Indians found it difficult to carry on their planning of making India Independent Country and tried keeping meetings in underground places etc. But that too would come to the notice of the Britishers and Indians would be severely punished for the same. It was then planned by the leaders that meeting at religious events could not be stopped as it would come in the way of people faith which meant mass protest, which the British did not really want. Lal Gangadhar Tilak, is believed to have started the placing of Ganesha Idols in as many places as possible, so that people gathered in huge crowds and the messages could be passed on easily. Well, it’s over 7 decades since we got Independence, but the set tradition continues. I try my best to make some Naivedyam as offering to my home God and today being 7th day on which some Ganesha Visarjan is carried on, I made these dishes as my humble offering. Do try out these yummy dishes and enjoy with your family and friends. I have included link to each dish recipe as they are posted as individual posts for better reference.
