Cheppi Kheeri~Vatli Dal~Keerla Neeli Duddhe Palle Sukke.

"Today's Naivedyam : Cheppi Kheeri (Rice cooked in coconut milk with Turmeric Leaves), Vatli Dal (Spiced ground chana dal/ bengal gram dal), Keerla Neeli- Bikkanda- Ambado- Dudde Pallo ghalnu Sukke (Top portion of Bamboo Shoot- Jackfruit Seed- Hogplum- Pumpkin Leaves semi dry curry/ sukka Bhaji)" ... my humble offering at the lotus feet of Guru Ganesh, Kings Circle on the auspicious visarjan occasion ... May Lord Ganesha Bless us all with his choicest blessings ... Ganpathi Bappa Morya, Pudcha Varshi Lavkar yaa // Jai Guru Ganesh // ...

** It’s Ganesh Chaturthi festival time and it is celebrated in great pomp in Mumbai as you all must be knowing via media. While in Mangalore it was a one day affair in homes, here the same is mostly celebrated over a period of 10 days starting from Chathurthi to Ananta Chaturdashi. There are real huge Idols placed in almost every second street and it is total chaos during this time. Vegetable market is flooded with veggies though they are costly as it is that time of the year for the vendor to make a fast buck, but nobody minds much as all are in festive mood. Then there are many homes too that bring bappa home unlike in my hometown where it was a tradition that was handed over generations. But in all it is faith in Bappa that makes every person from every religion bow their head in bhakti and shraddha towards him. We all love our Vignaharta, Ganapati Bappa, very much that when it is the time for time to leave it really makes our eyes wet.

** In my home, we do not bring Idol home, but we visit our community where there are huge Bappa Idol and lots of activities and rituals are performed. We give our services there by performing Ganahoma and thanking God for blessing us all and praying hime to give us health and strength, so that we can repeat our services to him in coming years too. In all I would say faith and trust in God is the most important and that is what keep us at least me going. I have a Idol in my home and we always keep Naivedyam to him with love on daily basis, however during these 10 days, I make it a point to prepare something and offer as Naivedyam which gives me immense satisfaction. Today was the fifth day and our community Bappa from Kings Circle is immersed in Chowpatty, so prepared this Naivedyam as an offering to him with love. Praying our favorite Guru Ganesh to bless us with good health and give us the opportunity to pray at his lotus feet year after year ..
