“My Scrumptious Veg. Thali No~ 453 : Tava fried Pikkile Nendrable Kele Podi (Ripe Banana Fries), Venti Gashi with Patrado (Colocasia Stem Curry with Colocasia Rolls), Mashingasanga- Vaingana Talasani (Drumstick- Brinjal Bhaji), Ukde SheetHa (Red Boiled Rice)” … Steaming hot rice topped with patrade gashi is a delight to relish during monsoon and its been raining crazy here in Thane (Mumbai) for few days … today’s meal includes all dishes from GSB Konkani Saraswat Cuisine … do try them; its awesome … Yummilicious …
** Today’s show stopper of thali is “Venti Gashi with Patrado (Colocasia Stem Curry with Colocasia Rolls)”. As I mentioned patrade gashi is a delicacy from GSB Konkani Saraswat Cuisine where steamed patrado/ patrode slices are dunked in gravy tempered with onions and it tastes exotic served with steaming hot rice. As these leaves are available in plenty during rainy season you can say it’s a monsoon delight. It turns tastier with addition of hogplum (ambado) however I could not get them here in Mumbai.
** Venti (colocasia stemas) are highly nutritious and good for health and Amma always insisted on using them, though she usually prepared talasani (included in the blog) or added to alvati (another dish with colocasia leaves also included in blog). This time I had some venti in excess courtesy the vendor, so, I gave a small twist and prepared patrade gashi with inclusion of colocasia stems and it turned out excellent.
** I have added a few patrade gashi posts before and there is a little bit of difference in all of them though the basics are same, one of them include ambado/ hogplum too. Always add on some veg. upkari/ bhaji to your meals compulsorily. The benefits of veggies are immense and we have been following this routine for decades now. Pikkale podi/ banana fries is added bonus and though ripe nendrabale tastes wonderful you can replace with any fritters you/ your family prefers to complete this awesome tasty meal.
