Chow Chow BaatH ... A combo of Spicy Upma and Sheera along with Chutney.

"Chow Chow BaatH ... A combo of Spicy Upma and Sheera along with Chutney" ... this is a delicious breakfast combination of spicy rava (kharabath/ rulav panna/ uppittu) and sweet sheera (kesaribath) served with coconut chutney from the city of Bengaluru (Karnataka State) ... todasa teekha aur thodas meetHa is the essence of life ... sharing this with all my friends today ... Stay Safe ... Yummilicious ...

** Life is never easy and so is satisfaction of ones own or other's taste when it comes to food. The more dishes you try the more the demand and the craving/ desire to relish. The list of to do dishes never seems to end, you finish with one and look back in satisfaction only to see a few others crop up in mind. I am on a roller coaster ride when it comes to recipes, I have stored so many of them that I just don't know which to try out first.

** Chow Chow bhaatH is a very famous combo and favorite breakfast item of people in around the city of Bangalore the capital of Karnataka State. To be frank I am preparing this combo for the first time just to blog it coz. I had a query about the same. Throughout my childhood and growing years or for that matter after marriage and settling in Mumbai, I have not relished this combo anywhere to date except when I prepared it here today.

** When you have no knowledge of the source or for the matter as to how the name cropped up, it is bet to admit it and not give false information’s. I was not satisfied with any of the explanations on net about this dish or its preparation as each had their own version of the combo dishes. While some combined it with khaara bhaatH a spicier version of uppittu/ rulav panna a few others with normal ones. Then the sweeter version was either sheera of kesar bhaatH which did not match the wordings too at times.

** BhaatH usually means rice and dishes prepared with rice, the same name is used in southern parts for dishes prepared with rava too, so this led to further confusion. But in all I came to conclusion that one should relish the combo dish as and how one likes or as is their family preferences without cracking brains over the information. So I decided to make this combo in our amchi style with simple rulava panna/ uppittu and sheera both prepared with rava and serve them together as chow chow baatH .

** On serving them and relishing it with a few friends I realized that it was indeed a wonderful way of relishing a sweet and spiced dish there by balancing taste. Moreover those who loved sweet version could relish the same to heart’s content and vice versa. There are a few more version of khaara baatH used spiced with masala powder and with addition of veggies too, which is also something very interesting and that which I will soon be trying for sure, so keep a keen watch out for my blog recipe, and please do try them out.

** It is always desirable to relish all types of food without shunning as food served in any form is pious and should not be wasted. There is always scope for learning new dishes and nothing beats a quick search of google where in you will come across hundreds of recipes. Many a times when we read a recipe, we immediately connect with and also know which will be liked or which will not be in our home. Again, we also know our preferences and come to conclusion which best way to adapt the recipe and prepare to our liking.

** So, never fret over small issues, read recipes carefully and try to think for yourself which best way you can try it out giving minute changes as per your preferences. Each home has its own liking and disliking, so it is best to make changes accordingly and prepare them. But prepare you must otherwise you will never know a different taste of dishes across the world and who know you may fall in love with it instantly or over a few trials, so go for it and give it a try, never ever give up, once you learn to cook it can really be fun all the way.

** This combo of Chow Chow BaatH can not only be relished for breakfast on weekends or on other days but can be served as during lunchtime during upvas/ fasting days too. The sheera can be offered as Naivedyam/ Prasadam to God before distributing or serving it to family during such auspicious days. It is not only filling but easy to prepare and serves all purposes during such occasions keeping  the food both simple and tasty. The desire to have sweeter or spicier version as per individual choice also gets easily done here, so just go ahead and give this combo a try one day and relish them to your heart's content.
