My Veg Solo Meals Thali~ 305.


“My Veg Solo Meals Thali~ 305 : Chapati (Roti), Gosale Shiri- Karbeva Gooli (Ridge Gourd Ridges- Curry Leaves Dry Chutney), Moong Dal (Green Gram Dal)- Tomato Toya (Spiced Dal), Curds (Dahi)” … just going light on simple NO- Onion- Garlic- Rice dishes … Yummilicious …

** Here is another simple No- Onion- Garlic- Rice meal/ Saturday Meals that can be followed on upvas/ fasting day wherein only the above mentioned are restricted along with non-veg dishes. For the last few years, I have been following this pattern whenever possible though there are no hard and fast rules as such. Being south Indian and belonging to Konkani Saraswat/ GSB Community, we are rice eaters ie our staple food is rice and we always prefer to have the same. Roti/ Chapati are consumed on fasting days so I set them so to get variety of dishes. Change is essential for overall nutrient levels in the body and one should consume all types of pulses and grains, local fruits, veggies alternatively as is possible.

** Chaturmasa period is often full of back to back possible and at times it really gets hectic. I have been enthusiastically following them for decades now, but recently it wears me down a little bit. So the in between festive days I keep light and prepare minimum food so that I get rest both on workload front as well as on body digestion ways. As we age we should cut down consumption on heavy food as our digestion ability diminishes so does our mobility pattern. Most of us in our community forgo dinner and have something light early in the evening and I am trying to follow the same pattern. Well, this meal is a complete one, so it is definitely going to be loved by all when you want to go fasting or want to keep a light meal for any reason.
