Curds beaten by adding some water and spiced up is lassi. Lassi is the famous drink of Punjab. It is served both sweet and spicy. They are also served by adding fruit pulps like mango etc. When imagination runs wild there are many options and varieties to choose from. During summer the heat is too much in India and it gets intolerable at mid morning times. It is lovely to have some chilled juice, lassi, tender coconut, sodas etc. In our house we are always making juices with different combinations. I have posted many types of juices and now would like to add some lassi too.
Method of Making Chocolate Lassi : In a glass bowl melt 50 gms of dark chocolate compound pieces (I used Morde Dark Chocolate Compound) for a minute or two in microwave with 1 tblsp of water. You can also melt it over a bowl of simmering water. You should hold the glass bowl (borosil or any other heat resistant one’s) over the simmering water, the bottom of the bowl should just about an inch dip into the hot water. Hold the borosil glass with tongs and melt the dark chocolate really fast by stirring and sprinkling some water. Remove and keep ready.
Now to make the spiral rings / vertical lines of melted chocolate inside the glasses. Just hold the glass in 45 deg. angle and with the help of a dropper or the backside of the handle of the spoon slowly take little by little melted chocolate and give the designs you desire. I used the back side of a thin spoon. Keep the glass in the freezer immediately for the chocolate to set. The glasses will be ready in 15-20 minutes.
Put 2 glasses of fresh thick sweet curds (ie. The curds should be very thick and must not be sour) in a blender with 5-6 ice cubes and 3-4 tblsp of sugar, 1 tblsp of cocoa powder and the remaining melted chocolate. Blend well till there are no lumps whatsoever. Add chilled water if necessary ie. If the lassi is too thick. Remove the glasses from the freezer, the chocolate spirals will have settled, gently pour the lassi into the tall glasses. Grate some chocolate on top and serve immediately.
