Chibbada Doodh Candy/ Muskmelon Milk Popsicle.


“Chibbada Doodh Candy/ Muskmelon Milk Popsicle” … summer is the time for frozen desserts or chilled milkshakes/ juices during mid morning breaks and its always an enjoyable moment to sip on to fruit based Popsicle reliving childhood memories … enjoy them before it completely melts, mine started to melt by the time I could click some decent pictures … Yummilicious ....

** Few days back I had shared Lychee Doodh Candy/ Popsicle and today it’s time for another equally delicious candy with chibbada/ muskmelon, again, another summer fruit available in plenty. The recipe is the same without much changes. For this recipe too, I have used milk powder to replace full fat milk and I got a lovely smooth textured candy. The quantity of sugar added is lesser than the Lychee ones as muskmelon was sweet by itself. In all a delicious candy to sip of to beat the still on rising Mumbai heat.

** Here is my simple recipe for “Chibbada Doodh Candy/ Muskmelon Milk Popsicle” … my style, try it, it tastes wonderful …


** Slice off the outer skin of Chibbada/ Muskmelon as thinly as possible and discard it. Remove the inner seeds and keep them aside or discard the same. Cut them into small pieces and keep it aside ready. I had purchased peach color (light orange) muskmelon, you may use any like white/ off white fleshy ones too. In all I have used about 2 cups of cut pieces for 4 candy/ popsicles, you may use according to your requirement depending upon the number of popsicles you require.

** Note : The inner small white seeds are filled with nutrition and can be used in preparation juice, tambuli, chutney, gojju etc. I have shared a few recipes in the blog, please browse through if desired and try them out, its awesome.

** Add muskmelon pieces into a blender along with 1 cup of milk powder, ¼ cup sugar and blend to a smooth paste, mixing a few times in between.

** Add ¼- ½ cup of cold full fat milk and further blend all together to a smooth paste. Do not worry if some small pieces of fleshy portions remain.

** Pour the thick- smooth muskmelon milk pulp into any Popsicle/ ice candy mold of your choice or you can even use small sized steel glasses.

** If using molds it comes with a stick along with top holder of its own, if using glass then cover with a silver foil and inset the wooden stick from center.

** Freeze it overnight for perfect Popsicle though you can prepare them well ahead if busy and need to serve it to guests or family on weekend.

** “Chibbada Doodh Candy/ Muskmelon Milk Popsicle” are done and ready to be served. Just loosen it before serving or dip the back of mold in water and you can retrieve them in one go and serve it immediately before it begins to melts. Tastes wonderful especially when served during mid morning when heat is at its peak.

** All of us especially children are always fussy when it comes to drinking milk or eating fruits, I still remember how Amma had to literally stand and watch with eagles eye to check if we are finishing off that glass of milk or not, and we had no choice but to gulp it down. There are plenty of ways that can be used to lure children in having them and popsicle is just one of them. Go ahead summer is the time to enjoy frozen desserts, so why not chose to prepare them in a healthier way and enjoy health benefits.
