Combo Meal Thali~ 369 : Sasma Vodi (Sundried Rice- Mustard Fryums, Matki Dal- Tandul- Bhopla Khichidi (Split Moth Beans- Rice- Pumpkin Pongal/ Khichri), Ambuli Nonche (Raw Mango Pickle), Kooka- Dahi Gojju (Chinese Potato- Curd Salad)” … there is nothing more appealing than steaming hot khichidi served with curds/ raita/ gojju and when a little bit of pickle and some fries are added on while serving it makes the meal that much more scrumptious … Yummilicious …
** One of the healthiest, scrumptious and heartwarming meal is mildly spiced Khichidi served with plain homemade curds/ raita/ kadhi and in my home I often prepare it in various combos including seasonal veggies. Surprisingly this simple khichidi can be enjoyed throughout the year be it any season, though it is more than welcome during winter and monsoon. However serving with curds becomes a little bit issue during cold season and I switch on to hot besan kadhi in combo with khichidi during that period. But summer is the time to relish it with curds/ raita/ gojju/ tambuli etc. truly soul satisfying meal.
** I often wonder at our ancestor's imagination in discovering dishes and cooking them aptly for that particular season. Frankly all we need to do is just follow the pattern by making a few changes here and there while we stick to basics, at least that is what I do. Whenever I find a interesting recipe, I first think if it is going to be liked by family ? if not, I adapt it to suit our taste and most of the times I have succeeded, it’s just like sticking to your roots without forgetting your existence. Also available in Mangalore stores, which is were I bought from. All you need is to deep fry them and serve during meals, tastes awesome.
