Yummilicious ...
** It is the Holy month of Marghashirmasa/Dhanurmasa which is very pious for us Hindus and also famously known as "Khichidi Masa" among GSB's. Lord Vishnu is worshiped during this month by all Hindus, especially on the Ekadashi day that falls twice in the month ie once in Shukla Paksha and then in Krishna Paksha. Fasting is observed on these days strictly without taking solid foods by many. The whole of month is observed with spiritual activities and in Maharashtra they even abstain from eating Non.Veg. On all the Thursdays of the month Lakshmi pooja is observed and haldi kumkum etc. is held between sumangalies/married women. We Konkani Saraswat’s have a tradition of preparing sweet khichidi / pongal throughout the month as an Naivedyam offering to God and it is prepared in different combination of lentils. The same is then relished with Dosa and this combo of “Khichidi-Polo ie Khichidi with Dosa” is famous and is even served in Temples during auspicious days of this month.
** I have prepared and posted sweet khichidi/pongal in many combinations already and I love experimenting with many more possibilities. Today I prepared this sweet Khichidi as Naivedyam with a combo of Chana Dal and Sama ie Little Millet and it turned out delicious. We relished it with again another millet combo dosa ie. Urad Dal-Bajra (Pearl Millet) Dosa and it was simply wonderful.
