Urad + Rice + Oats Idly with Dal and White Val Beans (Jenavare) Curry.


Dalitoy, Jenavare Keerlu ani Ambado ghalnu Gashi, Udidu, Idly rava ani Oats ghalnu Idly / Dal, Jenavare (white Val beans) Curry with Brined Bamboo and Hogplum, Urad + Idly Rava + Oats Idly ........

Oats are considered to be very good for health coz. It is rich in fiber and nutrients. Eating of Oats is the “In” thing in our country now as it is said to lower cholesterol and a very good source of anti-oxidant. Oats is usually cooked with milk to make it into a thick porridge. It is had for breakfast by adding some dry fruits to it. Being rich in fiber, it keeps the stomach full for longer period and hunger pangs can be avoided especially for children and working people. There are many quick fix oat’s recipes for the people on the go. Will try them out and add as and when I prepare them. 

But here I would like to make a small admission that being accustomed to typical Amchi (GSB Saraswat) spicy food, I find plain oats a bit bland and my family was hesitant in having them whenever I made an attempt to introduce it into our eating patterns. Considering the health benefits, I wanted to introduce this now in some different ways, so that our taste would not get affected at the same time we would be consuming healthy food too. 

After going through many blogs on net and through groups I came to the conclusion that Oats was user friendly as it has no much taste of its own. It adapts to the taste of any dish with which you combine it. This made me happy and here is my first attempt of making Idly by addition of oats. The result was pillow soft Idly with hardly any changes in the taste of the original method of Idlies I used to prepare.
