While banning or curtailing the usage of plastic to the best extent possible is a boon for the environment, the next best thing is to recycle them to your needs, that way you are not only cutting down on wastage but also not going in for another plastic material. It is best to use steel or glassware but sometimes plastic-wares do crawl into our homes whether we like it or not. Plastic water bottles are difficult to ban completely as somewhere, somehow in someway they are always there, just look around and you see them everywhere. Pouring batter into prepared khotto prepared with jackfruit leaves that tapers on top almost into conical shape is time consuming task, though we do trim off the tops. However, recently I had tried them with some other leaves which made it that much more difficult, I had no wide mouthed funnel at home, so just made this cut out from one of the plastic water bottle and now its been very useful to me for over 6 months. All I need to do is wash it and store it till needed again, so the next time you think of buying a funnel, just look around and check out if you have a plastic bottle at home, cut it with a sharp knife and you not only have a funnel ready, but you will have recycled a plastic-ware too … there are many more things that can be prepared from these bottles … as for now it’s a funnel to pour idly batter easily into prepared jackfruit leaves khottos, one of the best and favorite breakfast item of GSB Konkani Saraswats …and before you label me as chindi/ stingy/ miser or vasa (in konkani) … think about saving the world from plastic pollution before it engulfs us fully … do your bit to save the world, remember even a little effort goes a long way ….
