Chilled Fruit Mocktail With Sabja to beat the Summer Heat .......
Summer is here to stay I guess for a long time this year. The heat is growing up day by day and its just March month. More than 2 months for the rains to show up. In Mumbai its around 3 months I guess. Rising costs and heat are both a big blow to common man. Aerated drinks are nothing but a big dent in the pockets and nothing else. You finish it off and within 20 minutes you are thirsty again. It does not quench the thirst but rather increases it more. Sabja has lot of coolant properties. Include this in your juices and enjoy them this summer to keep yourself cool. So go ahead and prepare your own combinations of juices and relish them when hot and keep yourself cool.
Here is a new one …. From my kitchen to yours…. Plz. Do enjoy the same.
Soak 2 tblsp of Sabja in one cup of water for 1 hour. The sabja will swell into 4-5 times in quantity. Keep this ready aside.
Remove the outer rough skin and chop the inner tender flesh portion of the pineapple into small pieces. You should have about 3 cups. Wash and chop finely after removing the center core of one medium sized apple. Wash about one cup of black grapes. Wash, snip off the top stem of about 5-6 fresh fig and cut them into small pieces. Add all the chopped ingredients along with 2 cups of water in mixer and grinder and grind to a smooth paste. Add more water only if necessary. Remove and strain the paste through a thin sieve. Add ½ cup of sugar to the strained juice and mix till the sugar get dissolved.
Add in the sabja along with the water in which it was soaked and mix well. Put the mixed juice in fridge for at 2-3 hours to get chilled. Serve chilled during summer to beat off the heat. Sabja is a coolant and all the other fruits added are also good to cut down heat from the body. You can add some ice cubes also while serving. Enjoy this chilled juice during summer when figs are available in plenty.
