//OM Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya//

** Pitrapaksha/ Pitru deevas/ Mahalaya Masa/ Mahlu .. is that period of the year which falls in Krishna paksha of Bhadrapada month, ie the second half of the fortnight of that month that is from poornima to amavasya (September as per English Calendar). Hindu's across India usually observe a day out of the 15 days of ShradHa or Pitru Paksha period by paying homage to their ancestors by offering food, donations etc. particularly on that tithi day on which they attained sadgathi (passed away). Rituals is a large subject which needs to be advised upon by learned people as our knowledge on the same is almost nil or just to the mark of what we learnt from our elders about the same.

** I am not going to write any of the rituals performed in detail here as my knowledge on such subjects are minimum, so do excuse. If you need to know more on the subject you should approach a Bhat- maam/ Purohitji guidance. We all understand the compulsions of working people these days, which has led to a lot of changes in following of rituals in last few decades and more changes are sure to come up in coming years. I myself have curtailed my list of dishes as years rolled by (37 yrs to be precise) as it is physically not possible to prepare them all, and one is not supposed to consume the leftovers. Personally, I get satisfaction in donating to a needy family or for education purpose.

** Usually, the dishes become repetitive during passing years which makes it no point in sharing the same, however, when I prepare a few different dishes, I do like to share it, so as it help anyone out there in making a decision if need be. Again, I endorse that it is meaningful to prepare anything that the departed soul loved to relish on this given occasion as a mark of tribute to them. My today’s thali is with limited dishes, as due to heavy rains I was not in fit form. Sharing links to recipes of all dishes shared in the above thali, as is my usual practice with thali Items as they are already shared before and there is no point in repeating the same.
