My Simple- Delicious Veg. Thali No~ 417.

My Simple- Delicious Veg. Thali No~ 417: Batate Happolu (Potato Papad) store bought, Alva Paan- Ambade Alvati (Colocasia Leaves- Hogplum Spicy Curry), Beans Talasani (Bhaji/ Stirfry), SheetHa (Rice)” … come monsoon and one will always see seasonal dishes like alvati, taikilo, patrado, patoli, pagila podi, keerlu etc. dishes often prepared and served in most GSB Konkani Saraswat homes … alvati is prepared in plenty of combos, here is the most simple- traditional one, just alva paan and ambado … tastes best served with rice … Yummilicious …

** “Alvati” as I often mention needs no introduction to anybody from GSB Konkani Saraswat Community. This almost everybody’s favorite dish and though tender colocasia leaves are available all round the year, the one that spurts from the ground by itself from the ground during monsoon courtesy mother nature is the tastiest. Addition of monsoon veggie like ambado, corn, keerlu makes it that much more delicious and I will be not wrong if I say it’s totally a monsoon delicacy one craves for. In my home I enjoy preparing all monsoon veggies though over years some have been sidelined.

** “Alvati” is prepared in temples during most of auspicious days like “Ganesha Chaturti” and “Nopi/ Ananta Chaturdashi". The saying goes that Sri. Ganesha loved this dish very much and Mata Parvati prepared it often for him with love which he savored to his heart’s content. The taste of “Alvati” prepared in temple’s is unmatched and can never be achieved at home, after all its bestowed with God’s Blessings as Naivedyam. All details on preparation method etc. are available on the posting separately made, do browse through and try them as the leaves are available in plenty now, so are hogplums.

** Frankly when Alvati is prepared in my home we really do not need any other dishes served along with it, just hot rice and alvati in combo is enough to please our palate. However, to avoid health issues, I make it compulsory to serve a veggie bhaji/ (upkari/ stirfry) during meals on all days, so added on simple french beans talsani/ bhaji and deep fried potato papad (purchased from stores). I have already shared above recipes elsewhere, so will be sharing links to the same, just browse through for details. My blog has plenty of other recipes, do try them on your convenience and enjoy with family.

** And yes, please include curds or buttermilk during meals, as they are excellent source of protein and good for digestion and again are gut friendly too. If preferred you can add on raita, salad etc. too, you will find them also in plenty in the Blog. Again, you can add on any bhaji (upkari/ stirfry) during meals that is preferred by your family. I have already written all that I have to say in individual posts of the recipes and anything more mentioning would only be repetitive. Sharing links to recipes in the thali above as is my practice with thali posts. Do try and enjoy them with your family and friends.
