Greeting to all on the festive occasion of Nag Panchami- 2021 ...

 
"Nag Panchami~ 2021 and first Shravan Choodi Pooja greetings to all my friends here who celebrate the day" ... 

** Snake worship is a tradition being followed by Hindus for generations as they portray an entity of strength because of their nature of casting skin, which represents rebirth, death and mortality ... prayers are offered today to Nag Devata (Snake God) today, to seek blessings with flowers, diyas, milk etc. …  Several Hindu Gods and Snakes are associated closely ...

** God Shiva is depicted wearing king of snakes Vasuki, who seeked refuge with Shivaji when he was being chased to be killed, Vasuki also played an important role in Samudra Manthan (the churning of ocean for Amrit/ Nectar) by coiling himself round a mountain which was then used for churning by the Devas and Asuras ... 

** Shri. Vishnu (Narayan) always goes to yoga nidra in the ocean on Adishesha Nag as the bed form for a period of four month starting from Ashadhi Ekadashi and ending on Kartiki Ekadashi termed as ‘Chaturmas’ … 

** Shri Ganesha/ Vignaharata is believed to have tied a snake tightly around his stomach to prevent it from bursting which was full of the food he relished ... 

** We all have heard how young Shri Krishna is believed to have performed "Kalia Mardan" ie danced over the poisonous multi- hooded snake "Kalia" in the River Yamuna to tame him and stop him spreading poison … 

** Sage Astika is believed to have saved serpent king Takshaka, the king of snakes, during the Sarpa Satra, an event of snake sacrifice organised by Janamejaya son of Parikshit to avenge the death of his father which was on Shukla Paksha Panchami of the Hindu calender month of Shravan and since then the day is celebrated as "Nag Panchami/ Nagar Panchami, ie today …
