“Huni Decoctiona Kaapi/ Hot Filter Coffee”
** It's been raining through night and still continues to do so ... the cloudy darkness engulfing the city and the cold breeze whispering through shut windows just turns the body into snoozing mode ... but then wake up, we must, alsayee koru jattave?? the noise of the rains lashing my windows makes outside vision barely visible and the sound of rains hitting the concrete slabs and sheets above window panes barely makes it audible to hear the cycle bell ringing signaling to people that the eggs- pav seller has arrived, a daily routine in most Mumbai colonies, but yes he has ... I can also hear shanka naad and tinkling bells, indicating uncle from my next building is performing morning pooja ...
** Come on all of you, wake up, time to get up ... and then the coffee begins to brew, oh yes, just as the aroma of filter kaapi fills the home even slowly sneaking to neighbors home ... everybody wakes up with a jolt ready to sip on steaming hot kaapi ... I can hear many whispering Huni Kaapi pittari jeevaka hittachi jalle ... there is nothing more warming in the wee hours than a glass of "Hot Filter Coffee (Decoction)" ... coffee or kaapi as called by many is the cultural icon of south Indians, one of the most sought after hot beverage ... Filter Coffee or Decoctionache Kaapi (as called in Konkani) in GSB/ Konkani Saraswat/ South Indians houses is a hot drink prepared by brewing coarsely ground coffee powder to which milk and sugar are added ... It's a sort of lifeline for many, and no one says NO to a cup freshly brewed steaming hot strong flavored kaapi when its pouring outside ... the announcement that coffee is ready, itself is enough for most of the south Indians to lift their head up and try to inhale the aroma that preceeds the arrival of the cuppa ... and along with it if a few bajos/ bajias are served then there is nothing like it ...
** Sip on to your coffee and have a pleasant day ... A very Good Morning to all ... ☕☕🙏
