"Thanda Thanda Cool Cool~ Mango Iced Tea" to beat the heat ... summer is that time when mangoes are available in plenty and it is always a joy to sip it on chilled prepared in varieties ... enjoy this one chilled ... Yummilicious ....
** Mumbai rising heat is always a pain to go through without being soaked in sweat ... a silent heat killer when at times one has to be careful to avoid sunstroke. The temperature in the last three days has been significantly higher than normal and the AC too gets tripped coz of overload which is another headache for all staying in urban cities. There is nothing much that can be done except to sip on some summer coolant to beat the scorching heat. Here is thanda thanda, cool cool “Mango Iced Tea” ... enjoy.
** Here is how I prepared this "Thanda Thanda Cool Cool~ Mango Iced Tea" ... my style ... sip it on chilled and enjoy ....
** I have used here Brooke Bond Red Label Natural Care Tea available in India (not advertising please) which contains 5 Ayurveda Ingredients - Ginger, Ashwagandha, Tulsi (Holy Basil), Mulethi (Licorice) and Cardamom, which are known to have beneficial effects on immune health, you can use any.
** Add 1 cup of water in a vessel and bring to boiling point. Lower the heat to minimum and add 2-3 tsp of Tea Leaves/ Chai Patti/ Chaa Pitto and let simmer for 4-5 minutes. This is to make a strong tea. Strain and add 4-6 tsp of sugar (shakkar/ sakkara), mix well and once it has cooled down put it in fridge to chill.
** Note : The addition of both tea leaves and sugar depends upon individual liking and can be prepared as per one's own taste preferences.
** Peel of the skin from 1-2 Alphonso Mango/ Aapus Ambo and cut the edible fleshly portions into small pieces. Squeeze out all the edible fleshly portions from the mango and discard the inner seed/ katho.
** Put the mango pieces in mixer grinder along with 2 cups of chilled water and grind to a smooth pulp. Remove and strain through a fine sieve to remove any fiber in the prepared pulp. Add 6-8 tblsp of sugar (shakkar/ sakkara) and mix well.
** Note : You increase or decrease the amount of sugar as per individual taste. Also you can add sugar later on if you find it a bit bland.
Now add 1-2 cups of chilled water, 1 freshly squeezed lemon (nimboo/ limbiyo) juice (Optional), mix well and keep the prepared mixture in fridge to be chilled for 1-2 hours. Off course if you use chilled water you can serve immediately.
To serve : Take a tall/ long glass add in 2 tablespoons of chilled tea and then top up with mango juice. Add some Ice cubes and serve chilled. You can make variations by mixing the mango and tea as per requirements ie. you can reduce the quantity of tea or increase as per individual taste. That is the very reason why sugar has been added to both the tea and mango juice while preparing.
** "Thanda Thanda Cool Cool~ Mango Iced Tea" is done and ready to be served to beat the summer heat. Prepare and enjoy this one this summer when mangoes are still available in plenty and before they vanish. Tastes best served chilled and somehow brings back that drained energy back.
