Whole Jowar- Urad- Rice Idly and Khotto served with Sprouted Moth Beans- Veggie Sambar and Urad Dal Vada.


“Combo Meals- Veg : Whole Jowar- Urad- Rice (Sorghum- Black Gram Dal- Rice) Idly and Khotto (Idly in Jackfruit Leaves Baskets)” served with Kirlailele Matki (Bagado)- Veggie Kolumbo (Sprouted Moth Beans- Veggie Sambar along with Urad Dal Vada's" … Vada- Idly- Sambar is definitely a scrumptious combo recognized worldwide … the crunch of vadas and the softness of idlies/ khotto dunked in spicy hot sambar is just incomparable … sharing my delicious combo meal … Yummilicious ….

** Vadas also known as biscuit ambado when prepared as round shaped balls are a delight to relish with sambar/ kolumbo or chutney and so are those spongy Idlies prepared either in small bowls/ vaties or steamed in jackfruit weaved basket molds and I am sure all Indians have tasted them. The deep fried crisp exterior and soft within textured vadas with a hole in the center are world famous and I have shared many varieties of the same before. The most common and traditional one’s are the one prepared with urad dal (black gram dal) with addition of spices. In GSB Konkani Saraswat homes they are prepared deep fried like balls the size of large sized lemons and served with chutney for tiffin. These are a must during functions and celebrations and no one can stop at just one.

** As tasty are those deep fried vadas's, so are these spongy Idlies prepared either in small bowls/ vaties or steamed in jackfruit leaves weaved basket molds which are graded as one of healthiest breakfast items. As I have written all I have to say about these vadas, idlies and sambar/ kolumbo before in different posts prepared in various methods, I am sharing common links along with the ones to the ones in the picture above below without repeating myself. However I must mention that these are a monthly affair in my home as we love them be it served with sambar or chutney be it for breakfast or lunch/meals. These are a delight for all guests who drop in, so be prepared to prepare a little bit more lest you fall short. Try it, sure to enjoy it with family and friends.
