** Alphonso mangoes (Aapus Ambo) have flooded the market this time and everywhere you see them put in heaps. I guess there has been a bumper crop this time of mangoes. Alphonso mangoes are as you all know very sweet in taste with a deep pleasing orange colour to match the taste. Almost everybody loves this mango compared to the the other varieties. Summer heat is simply killing and increasing day by day and the tummy is always wanting something cold to chill down the heat from within. Ice creams are great way to relish and keep the stomach cool too, though I must say they are loaded with calories. But then when Mangoes are in season, you just need to have them before they disappear. I always prepare about 600 gms of Ice Cream and keep it in my freezer and relish them as and when needed. Today being Sunday and after the spicy fish lunch, in the evening hubby and me have decided to forgo dinner and just enjoy this Mango Ice Cream treat as dinner and crash on bed, tomorrow being Monday and starting of the week, is going to be hectic as the election are done and over and the Government officials start on work, so my holiday too comes to an end. ** I just added on 3 scoops of the Mango Ice Cream in a bowl. Topped it with Chocolate Syrup (Hershey’s store bought), sprinkled some Almond Slivers and a few Sugar Coated Saunf and served them immediately.
