Simple Dinner : Teekha (Spicy) Meetha (Sweet) Roti / Chapatti With Potato And Green Peas Bhaji / Upkari .....
Teekha (Spicy) Meetha (Sweet) Roti / Chapati is actually a spiced up chapatti that can be relished as it is. It is a chapatti that I prepare quite often for dinner as the preparation of the same is quite simple and can be done quickly, while it taste is absolutely delicious. Also the fact that I can serve the same with some curds or raita or pickles makes it that much easier. This roti / chapatti is spicy as well as slightly sweetish in taste and it gives a little bit different taste somewhat chatpata / tangy and go well when combined with raita or curds. You can also serve the same with any bhaji / upkari if so desired. I served the same with green peas ~ potato bhaji / upkari, a very simple dish and some curds. You may do so as per your liking.
In a large flat bowl add in 1 tblsp of kashmiri chilly powder (Less spicy), 2 tblsp of sugar powder, 1 tsp hing / asafetida powder, ½ tsp haldi / turmeric powder, 1 tsp ajwain, ½ tsp of fennel seeds powder, salt to taste, 2 cups of wheat flour and mix well.
Now add in a 2 tblsp of oil and mix all into a crumble type mixture. The texture should be grainy. Now add in ½ cup of curds and ½ cup of water and knead all to smooth dough. If the dough turns sticky add in some more of wheat flour and further knead it or if the dough does not come to proper binding sprinkle some water and knead it further.
The measurements always depend upon many things. Like the glass size, the wheat texture etc. So go by your judgment. In all the final dough should be soft and smooth. Cover this with a tight lid and keep it aside for 20 mins. Knead the dough again to a smooth consistency and divide into equal sized balls the size of about table tennis balls. Dust them with wheat flour and roll out with rolling pin into roti.
Fry them on hot tava on medium flame by applying some oil while frying. When done on both sides remove and keep it aside. Continue with the remaining dough by rolling and frying each one properly till all are done. Serve hot with any side dish of your choice.
