My Pejje Jevana Thali No~ 411.

“My Pejje Jevana Thali No~ 411 : Kani Tambado Ukde Tandla Pejja (Kerala Broken Red Matta Rice Porridge/ Ganji) topped with homemade Ghee/Toop, Cobia (Motha/ Black King Fish) Fillet Tava Fry, Ambuli- Karbevu- Gosale Shire Gooli (Raw Mango- Curry Leaves- Ridge Gourd Skin Chutney)” … one of the best meals is steaming hot pejja/ rice porridge served with a dollop of homemade ghee along with crisp fries and pickle or gooli especially during monsoon … Yummilicious …

** Monsoon has something in air that makes you crave for fries be it veggie or non. Veg. and it’s been raining off and on heavily for a few days. The desire to relish visonu tallele (surmai fry/ king fish fries) with rice porridge/ pejja had been in my mind for a week now and the rains just added on the desire to do so. Unfortunately, my fish vendor was not in town and I was in no mood to purchase from others as they always cheated on selling fresh ones. I came back disappointed and hubby suggested online, well that’s it, I browsed through for Surmai and came across this fish called Cobia (Motha/ Black King Fish) that to me looked similar to surmai. I browsed through google for more info and then decided to try it out, well the rest is written in detail in that particular post. In all we enjoyed today's meal with as all three ie porridge, fish fries and chutney gooli, it was indeed a fantastic meal.

** There is a soul satisfying feeling when steaming hot pejja/ porridge is relished during meals while it is pouring heavily that I just cannot describe. If like me you too love pejja with a dollop of cow’s ghee then you will know exactly what I trying to pen down. If you are fish lover then do try fish fries with if not then you can always go ahead with capsicum or onion bajias/ fries too. Just go ahead and enjoy this monsoon meal, yep you are right, pejje jevana tastes best during winter or monsoon when there is chill in air or when its raining heavily and you want to relish something hot and delicious.
