“My Scrumptious Fish Meal Thali No~ 410 : Gabbo- Piyava Raita (Banana Stem- Onion- Curds Salad), Dhoma Ambata (Croaker Fish Curry), Bhenda Upkari (Lady’s Finger Bhaji/ Stir Fry), Dalitoy (Spiced Tuvar Dal), SheetHa (Rice)” … enjoying our favourite fish meal thali for lunch today… Yummilicious …
** Fish meal Thali have somehow taken a back seat these days with the load of work rising in office and I do not prepare it as frequently as I used to. GSB Konkani Saraswat recipes from the Manglorean side are somewhat different from that available in Maharashtrian areas, the very reason why I do not like to order it from restaurants. I guess the habitual taste of 6 decades makes it difficult for me to now change and I always need to cook fish curry at home if at all hubby and me crave for the same.
** Luckily we are living in a changed era and home delivery of fresh fish catches are now available though at exorbitant prices, not to mention the quantity which is excess for just the two of us, again that makes things fall back to square one and I need to depend on my fish vendor for the same, as she obliges giving me only that much how much I need. All said and done I reached late and almost all fishes were sold and only dhoma/ croaker fish was available, that’s it, decided on Ambat for lunch.
** Hubby had brought some gabbo from market which I fondly refer to as tube light and I prepared raita for meals. Just added on Bhenda upkari as I always make it a point to have veggies for every meal these days. Rest of the dishes are as usual dal- chawal and off course ended the meal with most favorite alphonso mango. In all it was a fantastic soul satisfying meal, the links to the recipes of which I will share below for easy access. Do try out this delicious combination of dishes and enjoy in your home.

** About “Aapus Ambo (Alphonso Mango)”, do I really need to write anything and would it really justify the taste of this scrumptious mango even if I tried ??? This is a particular variety of mango that is very famous in and around Mumbai and which is sworn by for its awesome taste and color. It is called the king of mangoes and is very sweet and dark orange in color. The best ones are from Ratnagiri, a district from Maharashtra state, though elsewhere towns too they are grown in abundance. Maharashtra is the place these are cultivated by large and sold, however now it is available almost all round the world when they are in season, that is from the month of March to May end though at exorbitant prices, but then that's OK as they are worth it. Enjoy them if available.
