** I do try to include festive meals prepared as Naivedyam/ Prasadam often in my Blog here. I have shared a few prepared on auspicious occasion of Dussera/ Vijaya Dashami too which you can browse through the common link shared at the bottom of this post. Festive meals are often repetative as the items prepared are usually fixed ones with some simple changes of items, the very reason why I do not share them every year. I am sure that’s the case in every home as we all have fixed menu’s for that particular event.
** Sharing my Vijaya Dashami/ Dassehra Naivedyam, with all my friends here. During Vijaya Dashami (Dussehra) among Konkani Saraswat’s a festive meal is prepared as offering to God which is known as Nava Jevuche meaning new harvest crop food. A special occasion in Hindu homes that is celebrated as a tribute to both Goddess Durga and Lord Rama for their victory over ending Mahishasura Demon (by Goddess Durga) and Ravana (by Sri Rama).
Wishing all my friends "A Very Happy- Prosperous Vijaya Dashami (Dussehra)"
** Dussehra is the tenth day of the Navratri festival and is devoted to celebrating the victory of good over evil … the day when Goddess Durga fought and killed Mahishasura (Mahisha= buffalo Sura= demon) by stabbing him with her trident for his evil deeds and also came to be known as Mahishasuramardini ... Dussehra, also marks the day when the evil ten headed Ravana, the Demon King of Lanka was destroyed by Sri Rama when Ravana had mercilessly kidnapped Mata Sita (Rama's consort) and held her captive in Ashokavan of Lankha ... both incidences are celebrated by Hindus, endorsing the triumph of truth, its the victory of good over evil ... let us put in our best effort to continue in the same "true" spirit and be lead on the path of truth ... On the pious day of Dussehra, may Shri Rama and Maa Durga bless us all with good health, wealth, peace, happiness and prosperity ...
