My Satvik Veg. Thali No~ 415.


“My Satvik Veg. Thali No~ 415 : Mooga Dali Usli (Green Gram Dal Bhaji), Harve Kele Upkari (Raw Banana Bhaji/ Stir Fry), Aamras (Sweetened Ripe Mango Pulp), Chapathi (Roti), Ambuli Nonche (Raw Mango Pickle)” … here is my simple- tasty “NO~ Onion- Garlic- Rice” meal of the day … Yummilicious …

** Another simple Saturday “NO- Onion- Garlic- Rice meal” that can be followed on any upvas/ fasting observed day. For over a decade now, we have been following this pattern in my home whenever possible though there are no hard and fast rules as such. We, GSB Konkani Saraswat’s restrain ourselves from eating any dishes prepared with rice including beaten rice, onion, garlic and Non.Veg on all festive occasions.

** Each one follows their pattern as is suitable to them for observing fasting. While there are some who fast strictly with only fruits, milk, many of us have one meal a day like the one shared and observe fast the remaining part of the day. Well, it’s all about faith and food is just a medium, so no issues on that front. I love combining delicious simple dishes during such occasion to make the meals more appealing.
