I know the post is delayed but it's never too late to share with friends ... Enjoy the yummy Thali ... Holi Hey ........

** Wishing all my friends "A Very Happy Holi" ... It is believed that young Krishna known to be very playful and mischievous was extremely jealous of Radha's fair complexion since he himself was very dark. He complained to his mother Yashoda about the injustice of nature, which made Radha so fair and him so dark. To pacify the crying young Krishna, the doting mother asked him to go and colour Radha so that they would look same. This appealed Krishna and along with his friends he went about in search of Radha and began playing with colored water. This set a trend and the tradition has been continued through centuries and people play with colored water rejoicing the lords games with glory. I have written an article on the same to which I am sharing the link below, which you can read through.

** I am not going to write anything more about the festival Holi here as I ma sure this is one festival that is known to one and all. Traditionally we from Konkani Saraswat Community / GSB's do not follow Holi on this particular day, as we celebrate similar function called Okkula the next day after Ratha Saptami ie Car Festival in the premises of our Temple. The festival is celebrated in similar pattern by playing with colored water. But having migrated all round the world religion has become one now and we believe in unity so all of us enjoy this one following some of the traditions that are followed by our friends elsewhere and preparing of Puran Poli and Thandai is one of them. Well, I have posted my style of preparing Thandai before and you can use the search option for the same. Puran Poli ie Ubbati (in Konkani) is a sweet lentil filled bread that is relished by young and old alike. There are many ways of preparing this one and I have posted quite a few before, so please use the search option for the same too.

** I have already written a lot about dishes in the thali in each post separately, so as is my usual pattern will be sharing the link to them. These are all healthy dishes in combination as thali from our very own Konkani Saraswat / GSB's Cuisine; I prepared for today’s Holi festival. Do try out those dishes that you would like to try out and enjoy them with your family and friends. A Humble request, do spread a little bit of awareness against using of paints, mud, stones, sand etc. this Holi and try to be environment friendly. Holi was actually a beautiful festival of colors ruined now by such acts by so called educated ?? people. It disheartens my heart to say that this has become one of the biggest nuisance now on roads and i have witnessed the agony of those hurt by it. That does not mean at all that one should not enjoy or celebrate the festival. Play Holi by all means, but within your own boundaries, don't spoil other peoples day or life by irresponsible behavior or that which may harm children/animals.

** Have a safe and beautiful "Holi Festival" ... Play safe and insists that your friends do too. Stay Blessed, Spread Happiness ... Always ... Remember we definitely need to leave behind traditions and friendly environment for the Coming Generations.
